i'll be getting a job in portland net year and i'm just starting to get into kiting. I was wondering if there are any good spots in portland (so that I might be able to get some time in right after work).
or does everyone just go to Hood for the weekend? Whats the deal?

Depends on where you are working in Portland - but there are closer places than HR.
Sauvie Island could be an option. But the place is pretty fickel at times. Sauvie may be close depending on where you are working. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

Sauvie is a good place to start although it gets harder to get good conditions late in the summer due to the tides. Weekends are for the Gorge as once you progress you'll find that kiting in higher winds is ALLOT more fun.
If you work on the east side of Portland or can manage to beat the traffic out of town, Stevenson is typically good until the early evening. The stevenson launch is not for beginners so you'll have to cut your teeth at other launches first. There is also the coast...but your going to need a dedicated coast and early gorge wetsuit for that.
Click on the "spots" tab above. |
