So let's post what we do prior to launching our kite.

What pattern, or preflight systems check do you do to ensure your safety systems are working and ready for use?

Very Happy

I read the manual my kite came with, practice emergency scenarios on land including self-rescue procedures. I ask somebody to watch me while I do this to see if I could do anything more efficiently.

I gather a prayer circle and throw a special blend of herbs on my kite for good fortune. I also review my health insurance policy and review the latest maritime law amendments.

I also rig 2 sizes smaller than everybody else for an added safety margin.

I was absolutely being genuine when I posted this thread. My intent on this forum has never been to incite any ire but it is what it be.

1. Kite size: I select rig and prep my kite. If wind is going up I bag it and re-rig.
2. Feel my knife and think about pulling
3. Check my leash release and reload.
4. Check my site and look for hazards.
5. Ask somebody to launch my kite
6. Think positive thoughts to the power of positive thinking and hope everything goes as planned.
7. Head up to the bridge and ride like hell.

1. Make sure beer is on ice
2. Rig kite and lines, go grab a beer
3. Text friends about wind, receive texts
4. drink the blood of a freshly slaughtered lamb
5. Inflate go-joe
6. Ask some that is right in the middle of something to launch me
7. Slam the final bit of beer and break bottle on the rocks
8. Urinate on myself and then hold the leg of my wetsuit open so it drains on my feet.
9. Attach board leash to my ankle
10. Attach second leash to my other ankle
11. Yard on bar and backstall kite, then power up and get pulled down the beach
12. Dig in my butt with my finger and then test the wind, then smell my finger
13. Wave to my parents

Hey monkeyboy, if you could make that into an instructional video you would hands-down win the 2008 NWkite winter party video contest.

That was one of the funniest things I've read in a long time; I'm at work right now and honestly had tears in my eyes cause I was laughing so hard! Laughing Laughing
