Tried the search button no luck. Being lazy or time pressed I sometimes roll up my kites slightly wet. This sucks because I later unroll them in order to dry them, hopefully the next time I use them. Is there a safe period of time and/or wetness level Very Happy I can get away with or am I damaging my kites without knowing it. I mean Iv'e gone as many as three days with no visible damage. Input? Thanks Exclamation

Good question, I've wondered that myself... I know you can go a long time if it's salt water, but I have no idea how long is safe with fresh water. Also, I wonder if thee is some product that would help prevent mildew growth? (Besides the obvious of storing your kites dry.) Sometimes circumstances make it difficult to dry your kites.

Most synthetic fabrics are resistant to mildew, so I don't think it should matter. I am not sure about the stitching however.

Funny, found this when I googled Kite and midew. Some Taliban laws:

The penal code begins with a list of sins that officials with the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice were required to confront. Most involve quelling pleasure -- kite-flying, listening to or making music -- and averting sin, as in insisting on apparel for women that would avoid inciting men.

Article 7. A kite-seller is banned from making and selling kites, and if arrested for making them, his shop will be closed for three days. If he repeats the crime, he will receive 10 days in jail. Those who insist on flying kites will be deprived of education and their homes will be searched.

I saw a clip of a film of a little kid who insisted on flying a kite
in the middle east
I was wondering how they made a movie out of such a topic

The Kite Runner is one of the best books I have ever read.

And I have never had a problem with mildew.

As the sandbar gets more crowded.... I am closer to adding broken glass to my kite lines! Laughing

I had mildew develop once. I just soaked the entire kite in a bucket of raw bleach. The mildew went away but the kite melted.

I tried this before, but glue doesn't adhere to spectra. Sad I just found a glue that DOES adhere to spectra though! I shall be the only one at the sandbar with such a kite! Prepare for the mother of all kite battles. All kooks shall scatter before my kite. (Mark, I'll share the secret of the glue for one of your Cults! Very Happy )

Sounds like fun.... CULTS of death. I can see you now cutting a swath thru the kooks much like a scythe thru tall grass! Laughing

LMAO. Very Happy That could be a cool video though for the winter party... Maybe we've found a use for old kites?
