Steve's got his REV 13 in the air, but there's not quite enough to hold ground on the skim. We'll see what happens...

Yeah! Not a ton of wind, but it is sort of rideable at the moment.

I *heard* it was OK between 2-3pm. It was too light for anything but working your kite hard while riding big planks like finless glides when I got there about 4:30, picked up enuf to be OK rideable for about an hour around 5:30 or so, then started to slowly back off. I think I left at about 7:30.

Quite a crowd showed up.

I also learned it's still a bit too cold to ride in a 3/2 suit for any length of time. It seemed warm enuf for a while, but then I got pretty chilled. It would have sucked to have ended up in the water for any duration.

I was on 14 and skim from 5-5:30, then it picked up and was fully powered on the twin. Wind mellowed out then we messed around with the winch for about 30 minutes. People started clearing out and then the wind picked up... good powered riding till around 8:30.

There is so much water flowing out right now it was amazing how powered you were with so little wind. I saw people with their kites in the water and they pretty much stayed in one position because of the current.

You know I usually stay late and I've noticed that 2nd sessions are pretty common at SI. The wind comes up sometime between 4pm-6pm, backs off for a while and then comes up again. The most filled-in, best riding sessions I've seen out there have been near dusk.

The amusing thing is that its also pretty common for people to be popping their kites and packing up right about the time the wind comes back.

yes.. that is a strange phenomenon where everyone is bailing when the wind is coming up. I've had many a session where I'm packing up in the dark with only one or two people left. I think the evening puffs are a result of the difference between different cooling rates of the the urban heat island and coastal areas but that is just an educated guess.
