so i think tomorrow we are going to head up to the laurance lake spot and try to snowkite. anybody else down to go?
NWS is calling for 14 - 18mph winds from the north / northeast, seems like that is probably going to be the best direction for this spot.

I'm seeing 7-11inches of accumulation over night, and similar or better wind. I am down to hit this spot tomorrow, I'm gonna skip work. Very Happy
Can anyone tell me where laurance lake clearing is? Maybe you can PM me if you're trying to keep it on the DL...

Strong Easterlies are expected Friday night and Saturday morning along with another 10 inches of snow for the Hood River area. Gonna try hitting the honey hole or somewhere else Saturday.

I think I'm going to hit Meadows tomorrow as well.

Was kiting at Conboy Lake this same day, wind was 15-20 and rather steady actually. Light coverage but enough to go.

there was no wind in parkdale today. meadows was epic tho, with over 2 feet of powder.

we checked out the clearing by laurance lake after riding the mountain, and unfortunately, we found a sign that says "NO HUNTING or TRESPASSING under penalty of the law"

The clearing would be awesome for snowkiting, it is huge, and there was well over two feet of snow up there. and access to the field is incredible, they plow the roads all the way up there. the only thing is, i think wind quality might be a factor...

BUT until we can find out who owns that land and ask permission, i think it is off limits for now. Mad

HH on saturday would be sweet, but i dont know if we'll have the wind

Snuck in a sandbar session last night before dark. East wind at 8 and coverage was marginal, yet it totally worked. I love snowkite sandbar sessions. Out towards the end, there were frozen ponds that you could ride over, but you certainly couldn't stop on them. I actually rode sandbar in front of the marina since it has less rock and more sand.

Lets hope for more snow.

I asked a guy plowing his driveway nearby about the fields. The one you were at is owned by Mike McCarthy. The upper one is owned by his mother. The snowplow dude said he once asked Mike if he could ski though the field, and he said no...
He said to look him up in the phone book and give him a call.
Maybe we can find a friend of a friend of a friend who knows him, and try to get in that way. I'm not gonna call, I'm still kinda an out-of-stater, and I doubt that would go over well. The upper field looks epic.
Me, stringer, and genek got a mini session at the event site field. I think stringer snapped some pics.
