here's a couple i took. I've never been great at action photos, but love to shoot candid people shots... so if you ever hear your name called, then can't find who said it... you probably just got your photo taken by me... Smile

Hey KB4C is awesome but imagine one day when we wouldn't need to raise money to cure cancer (because it will already be done!)

Something I saw this morning:

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,24157781-5005941,00.html

Thanks again Garrett, Greg, and Tonia for the awesome weekend and all of your work.

Still recovering from my weekend hangover and I didn't even drink....

The results from the Kite Derby are tucked deep in a prize tub in the UHaul. So, as soon as I drop off some of these sponsor tents & banners, buoys, anchors, and t-shirts, I'll get the results and post them as soon as I can.

In the meantime, here are the top fundraisers, who all raised over $1000:

$17,151 Kee Park
$8550 Peter Nora
$3600 Matt Sexton
$3505 Tony Colburn
$2101 Shay Ohrel
$2085 Ryan Schenk
$1905 Cynthia Brown
$1800 Dmitry Kraskovsky
$1700 Jason and Katie Clack
$1440 Helen Spear
$1364 Jeri McMaster
$1350 Pepi Gerald
$1250 Bill Plautz
$1250 James Stringfellow
$1138 Brett Edelen
$1025 Steve Fisher

Thank you everyone for your fundraising efforts... every bit matters. Brett will tell you that after winning his new Jimmy Lewis SUP!

Well done all! Just getting launched was harrowing experience for many! Just getting back and forth was an exercise in gust management....but getting around that course took real tenacity!

Helen, would love to hear how your day went after you got out there! You've got gutz girlfriend! Thumb's Up

Thanks again to Nicole and associates for entertaining the kids and providing the bouncy house! The car painting was a huge hit!

Ryan's long jump was soo boostilicious...man, you can't beat those Ravens for altitude and float...

Very Happy

Excellent Event! BIG props to Tonia, Garrett, Greg and everyone else who made the event run smoothly! The teamwork is amazing! The kiteboarding community really knows how to pull it all together! Sitting on the sidelines as a spectator you can really take it all in and say WOW!

Congrats to Irv Stein for getting second place in the lap race. He has over come an amazing ordeal this year and really shined this weekend! Proud of you buddy!

Can't wait till next year because it just keeps getting bigger and better!

another big thank you goes out to gregg gnecco, tonia farman, and garret zallen for making a significant impact on our sport and humanity.

As Neil put it,
"these guys didn't just bring an amazing event to hood river, they brought an amazing event to hood river, and did something great in this world and involved us all in it."

I'm feeling a little "grom" stoked at the moment...

I need to say thanks to all the kiters on the water that kept cheering me on as I went by. It really helped to keep me pumped up and moving. I was actually the most excited to be the first one around the course and hear Neil call out my name on the PA. That was a big adrenaline boost! But, I was also worried the score keepers weren't ready and wouldn't count my first lap! I think I yelled my number two times to them as I went by the boat. Embarassed

After the 4th or 5th lap I couldn't tell who was where anymore and had to rely on catching the PA and hearing the other riders give me updates. I got lucky with my kite size and board combo choice and was able to use it all day, even through the massive holes that came through.

I wasn't sure about the finish and was worried about throwing away all the hard work by turning in too early and having the 2nd place guy go past the boat and take the win! Too many hours out there to cut it short. But also had no clue of what time it was and felt like I could still go another hour if needed. (still had some Smart Water in my camel back Thumb's Up )

Thanks again to all the volunteers who helped us race - you guys rock!

Tony

I'd like to make a notation next to my name on the fundraiser list that the amount raised was a team effort between myself and Anna Weber (2nd Wind Shop Staff/Teamrider).
We had originally intended to be a 3 person relay team so that we could also help out on the beach, but when we lost our 3rd person, we decided to just kite as individuals.
While I rode for a total of 4 hours(3+1), Anna killed it by going the whole 6 hours non-stop (and still hit the party until closing time).

Thanks
Pepi
