there is quite a lot of friction created from reading this site
perhaps some of it is helpful/needed

but I see a lot of animosity
and some hard feelings
I would imagine some of it is carried
forward
too bad.

come to Flo

gotta go
just woke up and already blowing

Yea man, I hear ya. To bad emotions can't be conveyed with typing. I try to always keep in mind that I'm only talking about kiteboarding, and not life or death situations.

I went to port offices just a little bit ago to sign some paper work, find out where we were with getting CGKA representation on WFR and to begin discussing the access issues from this past weekend and was informed that.....

A port staff member's home phone number was posted at the beginning of this thread. If I'd been paying more attention I might have caught it and been able to do something about it but.... I didn't. Then to be told that a large number of somewhat threating and borderline obscene calls were made to that number got me more than a little bent. I got more bent when I was told that this person's family members were subjected to some pretty ugly rants as well. WAY TO GO!!!! GREAT IMAGE!!!!

Talk about taking 2 steps back....these tactics don't/won't help. This sure isn't/wasn't a great way to represent the kite community to a staff member who was just doing her job. Thanks - some of you sure know how to make my job harder. Just when CGKA was starting to get some respect - someone pulls a trick like this.

While I understand the frustrations with the 4th of July spit closure. PLEASE try to remember that fireworks from the spit (right or wrong) it has been happening for a lot longer than kiting has been around. Once more ......Change takes time, communication and working together.

Just thinking about the money kiting brings into HR I estimate that I spent about $4-5K in two years of kiting in the gorge. This is a mixture of kites and gear, hotels, meals, lessons, hotels, and so on.

Over the 4th I avoided HR and spent my money at Rufus on Thursday-Friday and then went to the coast on Saturday and Sunday. Bought a cool SUP on Sunday after renting on Saturday, so while not kiteboard related that $1K was spent at the in Lincoln City instead of HR.

Most my kites and gear are SS so Stevenson gets a piece of the of my money on a regular basis.

By the way, what is "DBA members"? As a entraprenuer I am always looking for new data sources to find oppurtunities. To me a DBA is simply a ficticious name you register - Doing Business As..?

In the interest of fairness I don't think the CGKA was responsible for the obscene and threatening calls. While I think a business number would be good for folks to be able to call and express their concern and disapointment or gratitude. A few bad apples and a home number can create a mess, but obviously it is not appropreite to hold the CGKA accountable for something they had not sanctioned.

Anyway, just my opinion. Change takes time, communication, and working together - you are correct.

Didn't say, or mean to imply, it was CGKA sanctioned or they should be held accountable. Port of Hood River office number is pretty easy to find. Just a bad representaion of the kiting community in general. Makes it hard to sit down and "talk/discuss" when staff is feeling insulted and bent.

I'm still scheduled to meet with the Executive Director later this week to discuss this.

How did the person who started this thread get the Port staff's personal number? You sure Linda didn't forward her office phone to her home? That seems a little more likely.

I removed the phone number at sherry's request... can we just let this thread die and move on?

The question came up as to were I got the said phone number. Well, when I went to the event site to see if we were able to use that since the normal site was closed, the kid at the toll both gave me the number as the person to file a complant with (aka "his manager"). I called it and got another person in the office who was the one who told me go to Stevensen. It was not a home phone but was on the office paper work, I was presented, at the toll booth.

The whole point of this post was just to try and get an alternate access point on the days when they use ours. I live in Hood River, year round, and have a season pass to park and I use it 4-6 days a week. I just felt that it was not fair to deny me access, that I paid for, on a holiday weekend, when it could have been so easy to have just shared a little space with the windsurfers for those 2.5 days it was closed.

Wow!

I dont know who posted my private phone, but I just got a call from Thomas the Train, who was obviously drunk and ranting about how many cute kids and "soccer milfs" he brings to town, and how us kiters should "shut the f- up" or hes gonna start parking his trains at the spit. Then he offended my children offering to shoot fireworks out of his ___ (caboose?) Ive never been so offended
