Sure, for the majority of those posting who are not, "Anonymous", it is fine to be frivolous with your posts and even obnoxious.

Do you guys have the slightest inkling when you post, the thread is bumped to the top of the page....right under the sticky for KB4C? Can you imagine what someone who may considering donating to the cause is thinking when they read, "Official", posts by founders with freakin pink unicorn kites and half naked women as their avatar? Can you imagine the first impression they get when they read a few posts from your profile(s)?They are thinking what kind of lunacy is running the organization and surely, quickly thereafter, they are thinking they do not want their brand/company/name associated with this lack of maturity.

What about those of you who teach kiting? Have you considered maybe someone visting Portland area this summer who was given a reccomendation to you and they come here to ask some question reading the absurdity. You are going to scare away anyone with good sense.

For most of you there are not unreasonably strict standards for how you live your life, nor does what you say have consequences, past your own backyard. But, for those of you, that hold occupations that required swearing an oath of honor, what you say and do are not trivial matters.

For the handful who claim to be professionals, who have investments/reputations in the community which are judged, WTF are you doing?

Blows my mind anyone with a higher education has posted their PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Yet since you have, WAKE UP Exclamation

Do you understand ANYONE can Google your name, find your association with NWKite, read your entries, view your beer chugging pics and bring it full circle to your employer? Even worse, make a public statement against your character?

i really disagree with you. i think that if someone wants to learn how to kite, then they are going to learn how to kite no matter what. just because a bunch of us goof around on this forum and make jokes, there is NO WAY that is going to turn someone away from kiting. you have to WANT to kite to be able to do it, and if you have that want, nothing will deter you. i've seen people try to pick up this sport and quit just as soon as they started, because they didn't want it bad enough, not because of some forum jokes.

furthermore, i google'd my full name and i didn't see nwkite.com anywhere in the fekking results. which actually brings me to a question i have for phil- is there a robots.txt in the root folder for nwkite to tell search engines not to index the forum?

anyhoo blowmeakiss - you were mildly entertaining for awhile, now your just getting annoying. I see two possibilities:

1) your the alter ego of some kiter

2) you really are a random person who doesn't kite

if its #2 and you don't have an interest in kiting in the future or making a positive contribution to the forum, then please go away. Very Happy

if its #1 then stop being a tard.

either way you were a lot more fun when you had a unicorn avatar.

I don't exactly know what I think about the whole Unicorn thing - but I'm definitly down w/ beer. AND all my co workers know I like beer so I guess I can maintain my image Wink

Sitcoms and movies throw Hasselhoff and Unicorn jokes around all the time, and we all think that is hillarious - NWkite does it and we are immature and phobic Confused

as for sponsors, NWkite.com seems to be THE way to get people to participate in KB4C. If you don't want to recruit on NWkite, I doubt you'll be able to recruit many kiters in the NW at all.

As an active professional who works for a multi-billion dollar international engineering company, I can say that coming out with my unicorn has been the best thing to ever happen to me. The greens are greener and the blues are bluer, all thanks to the piss and vinegar posts of blowmeakiss. If it were not for her overt negativity, obvious lack of understanding about how the world works, and her atrocious grammar, I would not have been drawn to the unicorn.

I know that some of you have embraced the unicorn, if only for a moment, but that is all it takes to let the unicorn into your heart. So thank you; blow me, for bringing the unicorn to everyone. Rolling Eyes

I can say these things without fear of impunity because I too googled my full name and nothing about NWkite or cancer came up. I even have a pretty rare name as well, its Dirk Diggler.

I was hoping my abscence would give everyone time to calm down before this summer. Perhaps then when we meet there won't be harsh exchanges.

Plus, the unicorn thing continued distractions from certain fundraising events. It was crazy enough dividing the NW kiting community during the CGKB elections, potentially scattering participants by making kiters choose sides, but the immaturity of some, with the ongoing unicorn chronicles, was certainly a turn off for companies who may have been directed to nwkite, from lending their contributions.

Might take an, "Outsider", to understand how unprofessional all the silly unicorn avatars and commentary appears.

With the economic crunch about to worsen it seems to me ya all would want to be as favorable as possibile to attract donations. Kitingboarding companies are constantly being asked to sponsors charities with promotions, giveaways, etc... With limited expected retail this year there are going to be cutbacks. It'll take some pretty big WoW to get your causes adopted over the dozens of others asking for the same support.
