Yeah our 9 day trip was probably on the only 9 day stretch of rideable wind this summer... not to mention we were in the perfect spot in Seaside to catch the SW day!

You got to pay your dues with a few skunker trips to have a good one like that, I have for sure. Very Happy

I've been on the N. Coast a lot this summer and while we haven't had the long stretches of forecasted NW's, there's been a ton of good riding. There are so many days where there's nothing in the forecast and all the sudden...boom...it clears off and blows. Yeah, you might have to rig a kite bigger than a 13, and you might have to grab a surfboard and head to Manzo, but if you crave a wave, it's all tasty!
Cool

-yeah, I have had some goods this summer, but I just don't remeber it to be like some of those "epic-north days" like last summer. WTF? maybe a super late summer bleeding into Oct. to bless us all!!!!!!!!!!!! Twisted Evil

go look at the "wind archive" on ikitesurf to remind yourself how good it was last year (or other years), and compare to the same months this year. great resource with reliable long term memory. also great for knowing "what % of days on average does it really blow in maui in october" for example.

of course i haven't been hitting it very much this year, but it seems like whenever i go the getting is good (decent swell and not too much fog). that day pkh rolled up was amazing. i didn't even take the time to pay respects to the nwkite master (sorry pkh) cause it was so good.

oregon coast will always be a poor kiting vacation choice unless you can plan your vacation on 2-3 days notice. seems like are always some 7-10 day streches where it shuts down.

I agree.
North coast wind has really sucked this season.
Worst wind I have seen in years. I lived in Newport for almost 10 years and it would blow all summer. Now in Seaside it's generally less windy than central coast but steadier. This year it just seems to have been cut off from the long stretches of northerly flow for sure. We have been getting about 2 days a week as opposed to about 5. But the waves have been fun this year.

I inflate, stand around, then deflate, just to appease the wind gods.
