99% of these State Troopers will lay their life on the line without hesitation to save your ass. That should earn them a bit of respect.

I think its something more along the lines of 99% of these state troopers will go as far out of their was as possible, even to the extent of putting their lives on the line, to try and fuck you.

At that point (after he gave me the $ 450 citation), I gave him an earful and told him he was out-of-line. I filed a complaint about the a$$hole but it didn't go anywhere.

No hidden story. That's why I'm pissed.

Thanks for the details.

Yeah, that would piss the living sh*t out of me. Wow. Let us know how it works out.

And this fog light guideline is just out of line! Holy crap. I drive with mine on anytime it is anything but sunny. I put them on instead of my headlights when I want to say "here I am, don't hit me!" LOL...
Quote:
...Fog lights are designed to be used at low speeds in fog, heavy mist, snow and other situations where visibility is significantly reduced. Front fog lights are generally aimed and mounted low to increase the illumination directed towards the road surface. However, after sunset and during other low visibility situations, fog lights are required to be turned off when an oncoming vehicle approaches. During normal visibility conditions, fog or auxiliary lights should be turned off. It is not appropriate to drive with fog or auxiliary lights left on all the time.

My lights were factory installed, and definitely do NOT point at other drivers. I've never gotten a high-beam flash from someone who was blinded or distracted by my fog lights.
What a stupid law!

The license plate thing actually makes sense to me. I mean, I would be very surprised & annoyed to be stopped by this because it is so common, but I could see that argument...if the plate is concealed, how are they going to give you a ticket with those speed and red light cameras that are all the rage now in PDs. Eh? That really hits the bottom line... $$$$

Officer of the Law... one of the few professions who can legally lie to, steal from and physically harm their customers. I wouldn't trust in my home or with my family.

I agree that the citation was ridiculous. Don't be a little bitch about it and stop whining just go to court and see what the judge thinks.

~I am not saying this is anybody, just a general statement~
Just something to think about while all of you assholes talk shit and hate on cops... If it wasn't for cops, EMS would not be the way it is today, Police generally are what make our jobs a little bit safer. Having a job like theirs is tough. Not only do they put their life on the line everyday for other people, but majority of the time they have to deal with assholes.. If you are breaking the law then have some integrity and own up to it. If you don't think so make a court date and see what the judge thinks.

whining about it on a "Kiteboarding" forum only does one things..
1. puts a bad reputation on ALL police officers- it was one cop, if your going to bitch about someone be specific. Think about it in as a kiter, You wouldn't say all kites suck if it was one specific kite that did.

Victory-

I went to court and flapped my mouth for nearly an hour about this ticket. The Judge apparently agreed with my analysis, as he opted to provide a written reply which dismissed the case entirely.

Hood River is WAY over-copped. If you get pulled over by a jackhole for BS reasons, do your research, take 'em to court, and light 'em up. We pay enough in taxes.

Congratulations!

Do you mind telling us who the judge was?
And if he issued a letter opinion stating the basis for dismissal, can you share that as well?

There's enough interest on this forum it appears . . .

Congratulations! This is very cool. It would be great if you would share details of your defense, so the next guy can learn from your experience.

I grew up in Hood River and this is definitely true. Lamest part is there isnt really any actual crime in Hood River but the cops think their the fucking CIA or some shit. Pretty much waste all their time trying to catch high schoolers drinking and just generally giving shit to the same people in the small town.

How can we petition for a smaller police force???

I grew up in an area where the cops hated going. We're lucky to have what we have and we do have crime in Hood River, it's listed in the news paper.

You can't petition for a smaller police force, but you can vote for the right sheriff. Neal Holste used to be the marine sheriff, recreates on the water, and is interested in developing a water rescue patrol with the help of the fire department.

After thinking about what I posted earlier I do feel like some of the reason there is lower crime in Hood RIver than other places is probably because the cops are so on it in Hood River. I guess I just think that sometimes they could spend their caring about more important things. Especially like the water rescue think you posted Forrest.
