Well I still have my 11m and 7m turbo 2. If I ever get around to making my stacked 18m I bet that would wind me some serious kook points! _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

The water drops and you get tons of beach all along the water. This spot is just upriver from Rowena. The best option for accessing this site is parking at Rowena. On this particular day water levels were super low and that's what created the beach. My friend and I hiked there and beach launched. It was really fun.
What's funny is Mark pm's me and says not to post spots where access is limited. As if tons of kiter's are gonna drive from Pdx. to park, illegally, and then ruin access. It's funny when somebody asks you not share spots, and it's a dominate behavior of this site to be secretive.
Access to this spot can be gained by Parking legally at Rowena. If you explore you can find spots to park closer, but the ticket is $60.
The culture of kiteboarding, especially this site, is quite guarded. I would call dysfunctional, but somehow it works for the majority of people who have thick skin. My question for the folks who regularly attack, demean, or make fun of people is, "why do you do it?"
Have another day!!

This reminds me of paddling years ago when we started playboating at park and play or secret spots on the river. It was not long ago people did not want to share spots Ie the Molalla , lake creek, the smith etc etc etc. We use to hear don't tell people what the level is for the hole / wave to be good at as we don't want anyone there. There was a few years where there would be teens of people sitting in the eddy. Now 15 yrs later and the same rivers there is no one in the eddy and you are paddling solo. My thought is share the spots as time will show you that the secret spots will not be over run and crowded in the long run. Thanks again for sharing and I can't wait to check the spot out!!! |

One note of caution about this site - keep an eye out for broken glass! My buddy and I hit this very spot in early summer last year and had a great session until he stepped on a broken beer bottle and sliced up the bottom of his foot.
There was almost no beach at the time and we were stomping around in about 10" of water. As he nursed his wound I pulled out at least a dozen broken bottles from the area. It looks as though some jack ass set up the bottles when the beach was dry and shot them up.
Anyway, he had a tough waverunner ride back to the boat launch (pounding through headwinds and big waves) and then eventually about 8 stiches in the bottom of his foot. He was out of commission for 4 weeks during prime kiting.. |
