If you don't understand it, you haven't really given it a chance. There are different ways of using twitter.
The way I use it is to subscribe to streams of information. A lot of people posts information and news about stuff I am interested in...they write up aggregated information and post it, and basically save me a ton of time...
I don;t care too much about who drinks coffee when, but reading about what the latest technology devices can do, or where to find 50 high quality filters for photoshop for free...well that I care about. It would take me a day to aggregate that information....in the same way I post stuff that I find. You'd find information about anything. I do some social media consulting, and I must say a lot of people have completely missed the ball. Take for instance S. Best stream. He just post, but never subscribe back. I'll end up with 100-200 subscribers. There is a limit to how many times you want to read how nice vodka is. He is getting bad advice from someone.
If you want to spread the word, you've got to initiate and follow up conversations. Twitter is NOT a place you can use as a one way communication. Signing up for advertising crap will not work. |
