That is great!!

Someone should contact them and see if there is any way the NW kite community can assist and speed it along.

Might take raising some $$... I know at least a few years ago when I was in Hatteras and we did one at the Slick.. it was about $5k.

I'm sure we could pull together for something like this... if they do indeed need it. (just have to do it a bit after KB4C)

Happy to hear it. It would be even sweeter if they decide to spend more time forecasting SI.

Rich - From what I understand a lot of Iwindsurf forecasting is about looking at sensors and seeing how that matches forecast models and making adjustments. So probably one reason they are way off is there is no good sensor for Sauvies.

Tekko - on the money thing I know a lot of people signed up as a result of clicking on the "Sauvies Sensor" that doesn't exist essentially. I know if there was an Iwindsurf specific sensor setup a lot of people would probably get accounts that don't have them now or dumped them in favor of free tools.

Anyway, this is great news!

Yeah Rich, don't be so hard on the guy. As everyone knows, sauvie is a mutha f?@#cker to predict. It just seems to me that a number of different factors have to collide just right for it to be good out there.

Of course when it blows good, it usually comes up quick and only lasts a few hours. If you wait for the sensor to say it's nukin before you go, then you've lost a lot of opportunity.

Its an easy call for me. I live on the west side and Sauvies (I don't give a rats ass if it shouldn't really have an "s" a the end, that's what people actually call it) is the only place I can get to in time after work. So I go as often as possible in the summer and I take my chances.

Its a nice place to hang out in the late afternoon on weekdays anyway, and there's usually good people there to pass the time with no matter what happens.

But yeah, I'd like to see a functional sensor there too Smile

Already done; I've been working with I-kite for the last year, documenting; photographing; and GPS mapping sauvies kite-beach. I've written letters and had dozens of emails back and forth. The best thing anyone can do now is re-new their subscription; or just join the service. They know it's a want, (and a need from our perspective)-- and good things are happening. The sensor will probably go up on the south channel marker from 'our' beach. The north marker is certainly a possibility--however the south marker usually gets less wind and is therefore the lowest common denominator. I think it should go there. Any thoughts on this? (north channel marker vs. south channel marker?)

Thanks for your work on this Kraemer!! Thumb's Up Thumb's Up Thumb's Up Way to persevere!

You've been doing the work, and I'd be thrilled with a sensor on neither marker. I wonder if the North one wouldn't be better though? It seems like a sometimes there's ridable wind there, and just a breeze south... It would be nice to keep an eye on the wind on the North end; it would help build a feeling over time what conditions are likely to produce good wind. Anyways, just a thought and you have definitely been the one really studying this. I bow to your judgment. Very Happy

Nice job Kraemer!

It would make way more sense to me to do a NORTH channel marker placement. The wind always builds from the North, so having the sensor there would give us more advance notice when it starts to work.

I'm also down with the North marker... sometimes that wind line takes awhile to move down, and the earlier warning you get that its getting windy the better.

Great job Kraemer! Thumb's Up

Northsyde!

sometimes the wind never makes it that far south - which is kinda sad...

good job Kraemer-dog Thumb's Up

and don't forget your tides - would be cool if that was part ikites synoposis - though this tells the story:
