Nice catch, pk Very Happy Throwing posts is such fun.

Seriously though... Posting on the CGKA forum should require
paid membership. But reading it should probably not.

Let me play out a scenario for you:

Bulae takes his kids kiting.
Hyper stoke ensues.
He introduces them to NWKite and CGKA
Chances are he's a member
"Club to help kiters", he says
"check out the newbie guide."
They go home and do a search.
Find site, but alas can't get in. Sad
Don't have $10 Embarassed
Kids get new attitude towards CKGA Mad

Exclamation

Let me play out a different scenario...
Troubled kids are looking for alernatives to being gang bangers...
want to try kiteboarding.
Oops there is no local access to water because there is no organization to promote new access and work with the port.
Kids go on rampage and destroy town Wink

.... $10 to keep kids from burning down town.... Cheap Wink

Good point. If and when the guide is going to be developed, definitely it will be publicly available.

I think taking the discussion to the cgka forum in an early stage helps to focus the discussion.

If the kids don't have $10 then how are they going to afford kiting? What in kiting cost $10? Maybe some wax for a skim board?

For the price of two lattes, you can help a child learn an expensive and potentially destructive sport.

'THANKS' for picking an avatar FOR me 'administration'....Yes...my way hot lady thinks so! I admit though...I am far smarter than 'good looking' (thank god!)...only thing that saves some of you).

When your I.Q. is well over 200...lets talk!

I would post more...but I am a very smart AND busy guy! it ain't easy running ones own business...beats working for some of the corporate clowns I've met. You will need VERY big boots if you wanna kick me. If looks are what you are after...go check out Kevin Kearney(Fay kiter)...his expertise mixed with a very BAD choice has him looking not too handsome anymore...since that is obviously where YOUR head is at regarding people. Enjoy your prejudice. If I see you in the desert and you need a ride...nice to know I won't need to stop...you can wait for the 'pretty people' bus to show. Good luck on that.

On topic: I will not name the person I got my o4 Fuel from...because of the instability of posters like Forest and pdxmonkeyboy. Who are way to emotionally involved in their own opinions regarding this. I have hang glided for years...flown a land powerkite for about a year and then came into kiteboarding. 'the person' I bought my 04 fuel from was not an unloader of crap nor a dishonest person. In fact...he has been nominated ny at least one on this forum as "new kiter of the year". He also sold me a harness and loaned me his Instructional DVD even though he does not really know me. I have been a doer/designer'salesman(the most honest in my trade likely)and I KNOW when I'm being fed a line of crap. I knew/know more about aerodynamics comeing into THIS version of flying than 95% of people entering kiteboarding.
So...I bought that 04 Fuel, and it was in near new condition. The seller was honest(showed me the sap stain even that I easily removed with butter; even called me within moment of my buying /leaving with the kite to warn me about removing sap with WD-40...which I had mentioned I might use. THAT is a guy who cares. HE learned on Fuels/C's and is STILL riding them. You don't have to read to far in this topic to see that many respect the place of these kites. I am not pretending to know the in's and outs of C's VS Bows. BUT...to be fair I took a class(4 hours...how is that for you pdxmonkeyboy?? Am I STILL the #$%&!! you called me in a PM???)and I was VERY comfortable with the depower that was 'very nice to me' as I as well learned the feel of the bow kites power. There IS an undoubted psychological advantage to reducing fear factors during the learning prcoess of anything that involves managing a lot of power potential. BUT...how many of us progressed to motorcycles(I road street a nd dirt extensively for over 7 years)from 3 wheelers??? And then there is the can't win debate as to which of those is 'safer'? I got my beinning on 250 cc and that is what I always liked the best as I got WAY better. Yeah...had some bad wipeouts and then I would turn on the news and hear about another 3 wheeler dead from a rollover.
I am very new to this sport...but I can say that regardless of what anybody flys that gtetting instruction is the bigger concern. It is during that instruction that I decided to buy a new bowkite and 'sit-on' the C Kite until I am basically good enough to check out the differences(both loved and hated from what I can tell here)a C-kite has to offer. THAT seems to be an intellignet aproach FOR ME. I think it is great that many people are as good as they are today due to the 'pay attention or get your ass kicked' realities of learning on the harder kites. I have heard from more than one person that perhaps the new kites are TOO easy and therefore inspire false confidence in riders; too early. Will they become so easy to fly that kiting will become an over-pussyfied (easy)endeavor? Until the next guy does a 'Kevin Kearney' and learns(what apparently even certain pros are prepared to ignore)the REAL power of the wind???? My new bow kite cost me WAY more than the great deal I got on the C-Kite. But I am not sorry that i bought it and I intend to keep it and try it when the time is right. And (unlike a few VERY unwelcoming posters to my earlier topic regarding 2 line vs 4 line trainers)I have good reason to consider the guy who sold me that C-Kite to be my first and growing KB friend. He has been respectful and informative. We have gone out to the gorge and we will be going other places as well from time to time (He kites every chance he gets). I experienced in class ONE side of this argument and again that is that the depower and power of a bow is a great and available; confidence lifting experience. I appreciate that. But it is THAT, that makes my decision and not the forest/pdxmonkeyboys that impress me with respect for their heavy handed comments against the C kites. I'm keeping mine! And when it is time for me to fly it I certainly know who NOT to go to with any questions I might have regarding. I have been to the gorge a few times already and I see the C kiters doing just fine. I can only say that I am, glad to have something arguably safer to learn on. That does not make C kites no longe viable...nor everybody selling them a crook. What difference does it make for some who won bowkites to talk down newbies and or C kites when their basic attitudes stink? THAT helps nobody. Fortunately, my first experience with KB was with a VERY courteous and admirable C-KITER. I will remember that regardless of how long or what I fly.

So what your basically saying in a very round about way is that an 04 C kite is perhaps not the best thing to learn on and taking at least one lesson proved very valuable. So despite your early stance that it was all about will and drive, it turns out that a kite with a higher degree of safety and de-power makes it easier.

Seems to me that is all anyone was every trying to tell you. Nobody here is trying to diss or attack you, believe it or not, we just don't want to see beginners hurting themselves or others. It makes for great u-tube clips but what it really ends up doing is getting launches shut down.

I can make you a tooth...so YOU can be handsome too! I'm 'really, really' good at making things. Sorry about leaving out that extra 'r'. I realise that those who have just finished the Hooked on Phonics program are sensitive about stuff like that. Your missing a tooth too...so I figured you might be tough enough??? Guess not.

I have pissed off a few people and been pissed off by a few but whatever. I like this forum. I see the humor in it. I can take care of myself. Cheers Forrest! KB is cool and that is why I am in it. BTW: the guy who sold me this would leave you crying for "momma". So be careful with those waking ass kickin' dreams.

Note: sorry ladies...I really AM taken: by a beauty(11 years now). Sorry ya' missed out.

I know you are but what am I?

IMO, You can masterbate on this forum about yourself and your qualifications, but you're not qualified to make any recommendations to anyone about kiteboarding at this point.

Thanks for speaking about my missing teeth. I had forgotten that I look dumb so I must be dumb.
