I had a similar ding on the tip of my Rocketfish. I used marinetex to fix it at first and it probably would have been fine if I didn't jamb the tip into my truck. I repaired it the second time with fiberglass and I believe that will be a stronger longer lasting repair.
Kataku2k3, what were you doing to your SX? |

I assembled my brand new SS fuse at the beach on a picknic table while waiting for the wind to blow... the board looked so awesome for the first 5 minutes of it's life.
The water level is quite low in my area as the run off from the local mountain range is just getting started now. Well I rode my beautiful shinny new board 45 feet and hit a log that had a large bolt sticking out if it...the log/bolt were approx 2 inches below the surface of the water. The result was a nasty 3 inch board thickness injury through the bottom sheet slicing through the blue foam core inside and exposing the bottom of the top sheet.
I dried the core by sticking a paper towel into the gapping wound with a fan blowing on the paper towel to in an attempt to draw the moisture out of the affected area. I left it to dry with the fan blowing on it for three days. Next, I sliced some foam (blue insulating type) to the shape of the canyon like hole. I poured a fine layer of fiberglass resin in the hole and placed the foam over the fiberglass resin and allowed it to dry. Next I placed two sheets of fiberglass cloth over the foam and poured the resin over the area. I allowed this area to dry and leveld the area with more resin. Finally sanding the area smooth with 1200 grit sand paper.
To sum all this up if I can repair my board anyone can. By the way the board rides awesome...
Next time I am in Stevenson I am going to attempt a warranty claim....I will keep you posted.
