				| SalmonSlayer - port doesn't really have anything to do with Naito's project. City of Hood River (Planning Commission) gave the go ahead so the port is just one of the "players". Plans would have to come from the city or Mr. Naito
In regards to the feasibility study for the frontage road. I believe CGKA (Jim) is one of the community steakholders that has met and continues to discussed and have input on this.

I only brought this up because I've always felt that if a frontage road project go through - and that's a big IF - it could help with the improvements of the spit.

Glad to hear that the kite community is talkiing with Mr. Naito.

				| I think some of you fail to realize how much time effort and MONEY it takes to accomplish such things as "pave the road and parking lot". Its not as if Sherry is going to clap her hands together and poof, the road and parking lot get paid. It seems to me that they did there best to address the situation of parking in a timely fashion. They DID organize the parking area, they DID put porta johns down there, they DID put all the schools in one place.
You are looking at around at least 100K to complete all the work necessary just to have a set of preliminary plans.drawn up. That 100k doesn't include the cost of any construction at all.

Plus the Goal 5 stuff ... yikes...

				| If the road gets paved and we have flush toilets or they lower the price to park - won't it bring even more people to the spit? It seems many on the forum this weekend want to discourage use. _________________

They DID organize the parking area which did absolutely nothing to the parking capacity. Not to mention all the crap they cut down and just tossed into the Hood River. Pretty safe to throw a huge log into the river that runs straight downwind of the sandbar.
They DID organize the schools to the front row, sweet. What did this accomplish?
There was already a porta John down there.

 Actually Im pretty over it.

The only point im trying to make is that last time the port went down their to make "improvements" they basically destroyed the place. So they owe it to us to actually go down there and do something right.

They obviously planned nothing out whatsoever last time they went down there. Maybe they could get some plans from someone who actually knows what they are doing and uses the space.

The parking lot would be so much better even if the gravel was rounded instead of sharp, its nice to be able to walk barefoot at a beach...

				| Just to let you guys know, I spoke at last night's Port meeting and made the recommendation that the Waterfront Recreation Committee consider a cheaper season pass for Sandbar parking only. They said they'd take it into consideration during their next discussion.
So, what this means is we may have to go bug them about it one or two more times but they didn't have anything negative to say.
