i think you need one of these to really do it right http://www.red.com/ Laughing
i dont think we are going to see it used on kiting stuff any time soon but 100 progressive frames per second at about 5 times the resolution of normal HD would be just about the most insane footage possible

JP's boss said editing Redcam footage in 4K is killer, and they have psycho computers (they just shot a commercial the other week with one)!

We just now got done building a 35mm adapter for JP's bro's DVX. They're shooting a music video this weekend, so it should be pretty cool.

P.S. - Your homie Ryan is supposed to be getting a Red too! Laughing

P.P.S. - Kraemer, you sure the 200A has 1/2" sensors? I hadn't heard that.

24p is great for lifestyle footage...gives a good cadence and eliminates the 'reality' feel of video. 24p is a storytelling medium...30i and above is a reality medium. That's why in a lot of snowboarding films they'll shoot interviews and off mountain shiz in 24p and then switch to a higher frame rate for riding. It's a style thing...to each their own.

As far as solid state and hard drive cams, you take the same risk of breaking something as with tape. For the money, I would save money and skip solid state, go with tape, but get a better overall camera (larger chips, more features)

No it has 1/3" inch chips instead of 1/2".

If you have $52,000 for the Red Camera - body only- you'll want to go to this next saturday and forgo kiting:

OMPA presents "HD Cameras for the Real World
Saturday, May 10, 2008
9 am to 12 noon (continental breakfast at 8:30 am)
Picture This Production Services (2223 NE Oregon Street)
A multi-HD camera overview and introduction
http://www.ompa.org/events/events.htm

(I'd buy a 35mm Motion Picture camera over RED. I know it's a rad camera- but it is still video.) Laughing

Got ya, I thought you just mis-typed it... Maybe the 200A is has higher res. sensors, but the old 200 is still 1/3".

You're right adam, I don't even know my own camera. There's gotta be some benefit to get the 200A over the 200... ??

I don't know if there are any displays for 4k. Figure it'd have to be a lot crazier since 4k is slightly bigger than 2 times (twice as tall, twice as wide) standard full-HD (1920/1080).

How big were the wheels on that LS? I'm still trying to get my mom to get the LS460L 19s.
