Dunno about that picture...but a lot of the time bright rash guards like those are for identification. Like, "hey bro, I'm a beginner, so you probably shouldn't ride 10 feet downwind from me." Not too bad for crowded areas

Just boardshorts? Screw that. I won't go out without wearing a burka over my wetsuit. Someone might see my naked wetsuit if I don't completely double bag it... 
What's the deal with wearing boardshorts over a wetsuit anyway? Is there actually a functional purpose? It looks goofy as hell.

Windsurfers don't wear board shorts - I think its a way to differentiate the two. Also, others say a wetsuit without board shorts looks gay. To each their own. |

Wow, that sounds kinda disturbed. Do you have to avoid locker rooms? Are you afraid of becoming gay? I don't think that can happen unless its already there.

a wetsuit is for warmth and functionality. if you want to wear shorts or whatever over your wetsuits then go for it. |

No worries, no dis. I just say if there is a opportunity to cover up the junk, Then I cover it up, I don't think people want to look at mine, so I cover it up. Thats all. And I'm not too afraid of turning gay, however i apreciate your concern.

i was talking about the bright yellow rash guards, not the no-board shorts look, I go board short-less if I can help it, less crap to put on and have to dry later, assuming I'm wearing a wetsuit of course  |

My rule is simple:
If I have to put on a hood or booties, I'm not going to bother with board shorts. To much work!
Besides, I was in a horrible kiting accident and don't have anymore sausage. |
