I've tried other materials under this surf dry too, like capalene
and fleece. But I'm either too hot or too cold.
Whatever OR did to design the underwear for this suit, it really shines not only for keeping me warm, but for not getting me too hot either.
That why I call it a system.
The one piece is shaped with multi-panels, like a cycling short, for maximum flexiblity too. If you surf, the back zip is the way to go.
Even the tags are on the outside so nothing has a chance to rub you wrong.
Its not cheap, but its a beautiful system that really works.

What are you Pyro Surf guys layering with? I opted not to spend $150 on the OR layering and instead was stupid and spent $130 on the thickest Under Armor (which is ultra thin by comparison). Definately isn't thick enough when the water's cold, so I've had to just throw a fleece over it.

Five Seasons fleece set. Absolutely perfect and the same thing as the OR suit but waaaaayyyyyy cheaper. Enjoy!

Boardrider, Are you one of those guys who wears their boardshorts into the shower at the gym? Laughing

What's up with that? I mean I understand the need for privacy, but the boys gotta get clean! I just go home and shower after a workout, since the gym showers are kinda gross anyway. Dudes bare-assing the benches where the lockers are, floors wet all the time, etc.

I was just joking in my original statement about ski racers. I could really care less, but find it somewhat comical, that a bunch of guys hang around together in ultra-tight spandex suits. Rolling Eyes But hey, if your into that sort of thing - have at it Wink

Edited d/t unjust brutality Very Happy

hey i use to be one of those guys that hung around together in ultra-tight spandex suits. Rolling Eyes

But I mostly hung out with the girls ski team Cool Twisted Evil

and ski racing is badass anyway, not many other sports where you get to cruise at 50 - 70 mph for 2-3 minutes at a time Shocked

Yup - me too - minus the full spandex. Used to race GS in undergrad. Far less girls than guys on our team tho Evil or Very Mad - kind of like kiteboarding.

Hey Boardrider,
I read your initial reply and didn't think it was brutal, just good natured ribbing in response to my own. Thumb's Up

I just wanted to craft something witty and funny in response. I couldn't think of anything though, and even though I could read the forums on my phone, its hard to reply. so i just waited until i got home to post this.

Anyway, the feedback from this forum has been great. I'm probably gonna wait a little before buying a drysuit, since I have a 5mm wetsuit I havent even tried in the water yet. However, I'm strongly considering the OR surf suit when it is time.

For those of you having difficulty finding drysuits we stock both OR and Mystic. The 07 Mystic Lightning are currently on sale. We haven't had any issues with either brand. I personally use the OR Pyro Pro and highly recommend it. My only problem with the suit is a little bit of water will blow by my ankle gasket in a hard wipe out. This problem can be totally eliminated if you wear booties over the ankle gaskets.

OR addressed some of the issues discussed above such as getting a rip and flotation on our forum:
