After a sweet day of riding at Hood River's East Hills tower (still 18 inches of coverage), I hooked up with the Royal Kiteboarding crew and headed East to the Dalles Mtn Ranch. On the drive up the snow and wind looked grim but after four-bying to the top we reached 8 inches of fresh with some wind drift patches over two feet deep which was plenty since the ground is just grass and small bushes with very few rocks (Didn't hit any).
At first the wind was light then it finally turned on and at the same time a cloud rolled in. Royal Kiteboarding team Rider David Tyburski and Kite Designer Simone Vanucci from Maui/Italy and I toured the hills and found the perfect slope for some jumps and small flights. On a clear day with good coverage this location could hold as many kiter as could make it up the hill and the exploring possibilities are endless to anyone with the ambition to explore. On the right day you could rider for miles.
As much as I know how great Skyline Utah and other great locations are across America, it is hard to beat a killer session with your bros in our own backyard.
