| I recommend taking Hein up on the drysuit offer. I got one just like it, it's been going strong for years.

You could try wrapping yourself up in some glad trash bags and then duct tape your ankles, wrists, and neck Then you should be set.

I think there comes a point when death risk due to hypothermia becomes acceptable!

Latex rubber is my guess.
They definitely did not use neoprene rubber.
there is a reason why they don't use "vintage rubber" anymore......

| you need something breatheable, its only a drysuit if you can keep your self from sweating so much you turn into a giant water balloon.

They weren't latex, neoprene or any of the other materials mentioned so far.
Companies won't disclose their materials: don't want to encourage competitors. So I'm asking the public, searching for someone who knows.
What kind of rubber was used in vintage 50's drysuits like So-Lo Marx, Whites, Bel Aqua, or Aquala?

OK, here's some info:
| Quote: | Dive Rite EX905 Drysuit
Dive Rite's 905 drysuit is made from butyl rubber, a material that is inherently waterproof and keeps you warm and dry. The butyl is laminated between layers of polyester to reduce the risk of punctures and abrasion. Shell seams are ultrasonically welded, making the shell one solid piece, and the seam stronger than the shell itself.

Sounds like that's a sound design.
Entertaining your idea, I'm somewhat confused about what you actually want to do. You say you want to use old material, but do something new with it?
Why not new material? Anything you build out of old crap is gonna be crap.

Hey, I found one on ebay! Only $75!
POS Drysuit 50's/60's
The seller even put a disclaimer on not to actually use it!
Should take you straight to the bottom!
