Less beach, but more flat water. Too bad there's soooooooo many people out there, yesterday was nuts... I think a lot of people are visiting HR for the long weekend.

No shit. Too many riders in front of HR has:

Ruined the pro ponds. What ever happened
to kite low??!!!! And lonnnnng lines. Ought
to be a 20 m max if you want into the ponds.

Spoiled the wind down near the bridge where
the flat water is. Turbulence from kites upwind.

Churned the river in to a choppy mess anywhere
upwind of the bar and in the channel.

And yet certain folks still feel the need to promote,
promote, promote to bring more riders into the
sport/area.

Yea, it got pretty busy. Seems like these days there is only one little patch of really glassy flat water. I'm going to miss that when the wind blows the sand away. If we get another bunch of trees and sand this winter, we should bury a few along that finger nail sand strip that creates the kiddy pool.

I recall someone mentioning that this spring
but they were instantly hammered for posting
that idea. Can't stop the herd.

It wouldnt seem so bad if people knew how to share the pool. I know that Joby has some good rules about how we can do that. Maybe he will get on here and let yall know how to share like good kids.

Yea, I think the next time we have to clean up the sandbar we just do it... Even if we only get a few logs in.

At this point we could plant some water/beach grass in key areas. That would give it a high point and not kill anyone.

Yeah, I watched the wake boys ride and
they definitely have a better system than
what I was seeing in the kook pool upwind.

Seems like heading out into the channel
and then setting up for your move on the
upwind side of the pond and then downlooping
downwind to get back out to work upwind
seems like a good system. Pinching upwind
and lingering in the pond is a NO NO. (except
for me and my 18 m lines and puny kite.

Volume is a function of line length cubed so
that means that a kite with 18 m lines takes
up roughly half the aerial volume of a kite
on 23 m lines.

I'm probably the biggest offender of hogging the flat water cause it's all I really care to ride. I'd like to hear Joby's ideas cause I try to be courteous to other riders...

The only problem I noticed yesterday was the people taking their sweet ass time walking with their kites at 12 right through the kiddie pool, but even that wasn't such a big deal cause it gave me a chance to chill. I left at 4:45 though, it probably got a lot worse after that?

Yea, that'd be awesome. I'd be down to work on that. What I imagine with the logs is that they'd be no more than 8 inches in diameter buried a few feet under the sand to hold it in place.

Bring back the cold conditions, heat brings out the kooks! Wink

I had somebody learning (looked like his buddy was teaching him) tomahawk a kite within about a foot of me while I was riding, scared the shit out of me. I wanted to tell his "instructor" to have him put his hands in the middle of the bar, then its basically impossible to crash the kite that fast.

I think I'll be avoiding the sandbar like the plague this weekend.

I got freaking drilled by a kite several weeks ago. Riding along , sun shining, smile on my face, just kicking it........I actually heard it before it hit me . WHAM... next thing I know I am in a mess of nylon and lines. I didn't have a knife on me so I just ditched everything I had and kind of slide under his kite.

Dude, never said one word to me. Nada, zip, zero.

WASN'T ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

and that wasn't me on monkeyman either!!!

but that's exactly why I brought up on the other thread to try and find a spot for instruction that is out of the way of riding!!! so we don't get pummeled, or worse!
