I do believe our moderator has been deleting worthless or inflammatory posts. I'm going to set my stopwatch on this one.

I too own a ski and find myself spending much of my time helping, saving, rescuing what ever you want to call it. I do understand that owning a ski puts me in the territory helping when needed which I don't mind. What I do mind is proper payment for my services not being received. So for all you non-boat, PWC (jet ski) owners that need rescuing these are the rescuing terms and fees.

Please feel free to alter "terms and fees" if your an owner.

Case= Current market price of Budweiser. If your not 21 or not near a store paying cash equivalent is also acceptable.

Can't stay up wind do to Shitty conditions- 6 Cases
Reason- You knew the conditions and you still left shore!

Just sent my girlfriend/wife on a bodydrag Rescue- 5 Cases
Don't teach your girlfriend/wife if want her to kite! Pay for Lessons!

"Dude I lost my board can you look for it" Rescue- 5 Cases
By the time you come in and ask for help your boards gone. Save your money!

Couldn't relaunch kite Rescue- 4 Cases
Practice so this won't happen to you!

Can't stay up wind Beginner Rescue- 3 Cases
Sypathetic, but sorry get back to the sandbar!

Kite Rescue with leash- 2 Cases

Kite Rescue with out leash- Sorry go get it yourself!

Broken Equipment Rescue- (Torn Kite, Busted Bar or Lines) 1 Case
Happens to the best of us. Still have to pay!

The reason that I'm bitching about this is because last weekend someone came up to me and said that he noticed I owned a jet ski and that his wife needed a rescue.

I walked over to the rivers edge with him and he pointed to his wife a couple hundred feet from shore with the kite leading edge down and asked if I would go rescue her. I asked if she was in trouble and he said no, she just can't get her kite relaunched. At this point I asked if she knew how to self rescue and he said yes, but it would be easier if I just went out and helped her to shore so she wouldn't have to walk back up the beach.
At this point I said that she should just self rescue back to shore and went back to throwing a ball for my dog. He stood there for a moment and then called me an asshole and walked off.

This is not the first time something like this has happened. It happens almost every weekend! I am not a lifeguard. I did not buy the jet ski to become a rescue bitch for everyone who can't relaunch their kite or has some sort of kite issue on the water. I am tired of being called an asshole for owning a jet ski and not rescuing every kiter on the water.

The solution to this problem is just like I stated in my first post. If you feel that you have to have the jet ski to go pull your friend to shore, then it is for sale. $5000 and it's yours.

Nah, I don't think he's high. He's frustrated. In an earlier post Bandito explained that his Jet Ski got busted rescuing someone who left him high and dry. A lot of people hit him up for a rescue and he doesn't feel like he should have to spend his free time rescuing people who should be able to rescue themselves.

I hear you man... I think "I am not a lifeguard" is a great way to put it too.... maybe we need some decals that say that for our jetski's

If you want the luxury of having a jetski pickup, you need to bring your own jetski to the beach. Otherwise deal with learning to kiteboard the same way that most people do, swim!

Well if they left him high and dry then yea he's high! I'm thinkin more like Turbo Diesel. I myself havent needed a ski rescue yet but when I do I think I'd flag down someone willing to help rather than someone trying to sell their ski, a couple cases of beer sound alot better than a ski for 5k???

Plus kiters dont break skis Operator's do! Duh!!!!

Bandito is willing to help, when people actually NEED help. Most of us at this point who have jetskis are the same way. I won't go out on the water to help someone unless they have already completed the self rescue and are trying to get in on their own, unless it is a serious emergency. Now if I am already on the water and I see someone struggling, I will swing by, but I am not going to ski out when ever there is a beginner that can't relaunch and doesn't know how to self-rescue.

If people don't self rescue and swim they will have no skills when they really need it and their is no help around.

I feel the same way helped out too many times and now I will do it only if they are fully trying to self rescue.

I spent a hour the other day pulling weeds out of my intake after helping people. I know JW's ski has been in the shop for helping someone and they spent hundreds fixing it

Anyway I dont think your being a asshole at all.

Yes, you guys need shirts

I did get saved twice this weekend. Thanks Janet! and thanks to the other guy on Blue Ski at Roosie. Sorry forgot your name. Now that I think about it, 3 bad bladders, 1 destroyed kite, 2 jet ski rescues..awesome!

But I was willing to swim back if I had to. Not that I wanted to I was on the far Oregon side at Roosie. But, that is the risk I take when I ride and if I can't make it back under my own power that I should find another sport.

Well sounds like you went in some weeds? I just think its funny to hear people talk about this whole subject, reading some of this shit is funny! I mean towing someone in is nice but to sit there and blame then cause you broke your ski is kinda funny, come on????

And yea skis dont run on beer but the people you help dont make you take your ski in weeds, rocks, sand or what ever else you guys suck up? Right?
