Don't you have to be extended with your feet over your head to be considered an S-bend? |

Wait, I thought "S-bends" were a unhooked raley into a FORWARD roll while trying to keep your whole body extended and as straight as possible.
the PKRA site makes it sound like it's a back rotation:
"It's a Heel Side Air Raley with a Back Side Overhead 360."
I swear in Boosting 2 it's forward. |

Yea, taking off backside is a FORWARD rotation (front roll)! |

according to the pkra terminology and trick definition list a "Backside (BS)" is...
"A spin where the rider rotates with the back of the body towards to the direction of travel first. For example, if you are riding in a normal stance with your right foot forward, an anticlockwise rotation will be a "backside rotation". Backside rotations are often mistakenly referred to as blindside spinds. TIP: Backside handlepass Rotation is when you pass the bar from your front hand to your back hand."
It appears that the term "anticlockwise" is the key b/c the "Fronside" states the move would be "clockwise".
I guess I always thought an S-Bend was frontside too... guess not. |

I think I remember seeing that a long time ago... though that's completely opposite of snowboarding. |

Are you trying to make a distiction between finishing, and not finishing the loop prior to landing ? |

S-bend has gotta mean forward rotation. That's the way Shannon is doing them and they're named after him!!
I've heard that (F'd up, IMO) terminology before where you call a forward roll a "backside" rotation because you are "leading with your back".
Very confusing. |

Yep, that sounds like the conclusion....
So, what is it called when you rotate the other way..? Probably just an unhooked backroll. _________________ Shallow Dive Design, 2nd Wind Sports, Airush, Trident Sports |

In Shannon's vid. KB 201, they show a S - bend both ways - front AND back rotation. I had to re-wind 100x to check and make sure - but it was both. V. confusing indeed. - C
I'll re-watch it and check again to confirm. Can't find the vid. right now - must be in my car. Last edited by boardrider on Mon Aug 06, 07 2:07 pm; edited 1 time in total |

if you are unhooked its an f-16.. but I personally think the term f-16 came from those rocket-powered unhooked loops that send the rider level w/ the kite.. but in keeping with the "definition" its simply an unhooked backroll with a kiteloop.
|
I was called out on this...I was doing unhooked backrolls and kiteloop, and I called it an F-16 to this dude who hardly comes off the water...he called me out and told me it was only an F-16 if I was over the kite....now how many guys actually get over the kite while doing that trick? Not too many I tell that much
Anyways, call them whatever you want, they hurt just as much.
oh, and downloops is if you loop the kite in the forward direction and down...they are harder to stick..me thinks. and all you get is a power yank downwind to use for popping...I was planning to do S-bends with down loops unhooked, but I am having problems with it... so I've moved on..maybe later...maybe the Alliance saves the day
