Put up a webcam for fun...if you are wondering if it is capping east of Hood River.

Good question, if it isn't that hard I could put one up for Rowena.

You need a few things for a basic webcam
1) computer you'll leave on all the time
2) connection to the internet
3) camera + webcam software
3) webserver to host the image

A webcam at Rowena would be nice. If you need help with #3 or #4, I can help, let me know.

Another way to install a web-cam is by using a Network IP Cam (google it). With a IP Cam you set up a cam with it's own ip address and connect to the cam directly using a web browser and view real time video. Or you can have the cam upload automatically to a web page again using a browser. The HatchCam loads to web page automatically. The old Storm Warning cam was a direct connect to the Cam.

I have found cams on e-bay for 50% less than retail. The really cool cameras can tilt, pan and zoom, they are $500 bucks plus. You can get fixed lens camera for a whole lot less.

My Cam loads to a weather page. However I can access and control it from any PC, Mac or my phone. If I had more band width I would post a link to the Cam allowing the public to control the cam.
