Been wearing a seat harness for a few years since I broke a few ribs -was thinking of trying a board short harness - it did look like the spreader bar sat lower than on the Fusion harness I wear? People happy with these?

Was thinking of switching back to a waist harness but the ribs might not handle it - still bit tweaky

I really like my nitrous shorts. For me they are very comfy and I don't ahve any issues with my back getting tweaked.

Same, love mine. When I first switched from waist to board short..it was a bit wierd cause the pull is much lower. I never liked seat harness cause they tend to give you a wedgy when you get worked.

..I have heard people hurting their ribs with waist harness..but not sure if I have heard of any boardshort rib injuries..

Anyone out there had rib injury while wearing board shorts?

Gman, I what size waist do you have? I have a brand new 34" pair of Nitrous shorts (no spreader bar or pad) with the tags still on them. I'll sale them cheap if they fit ya.

It's definitely a small 34, that's why they still have the tags on them. Smile

I wear a 34"
they will be too big for you, if they are sloppy they don't tighten up very good.

My Nitrous shorts don't fit all that great either. The waste is a bit too tight and the legs are a bit too loose. As the water warms up, they fit better because I have less wetsuit thickness to deal with. Unfortunately, I am a light weight when it comes to staying warm. I am still wearing a 3/2 full while a lot of you guys are in shortys.
Anyone try the Ocean Rodeo Session shorts? They look like they might be more supportive.

The nitrous shorts are good. I'm a 32 but got the 34 for wetsuits and it's ok without a wetsuit but maybe not for the most trim look. Thoracic fractures (snowboarding) has limited my use of waist harnesses so it is a much better option if you have any back issues

My son who is really a 29 gets on great with the 32 which is pretty slim.

john, 32" is perfect for me and probably you. i use 30-32 pants. it's easy to loosen them, but they only get so tight. so much better than fusion it's ridiculous.

I love the Nitrous shorts, but make sure and wear something underneath them, like thin neoprene shorts. The straps can chafe your legs pretty bad. First time I used them I noticed I was leaving a blood trail--in the ocean. Not that I don't appreciate the excitement factor of self-chumming for sharks...

Check out the Mystic harnesses for sure, I got the Warrior waist harness and its awesome. Much more supportive than my old harness and comes on/off way easier. One other thing I noticed about them is the hook doesn't stick out as far on the spreader bar, so it keeps your reach shorter for the same amount of depower throw. Thumb's Up
