Looking for advice for anyone who has been or looked at going to Cabarete. When's a good time to go for wind/weather? Has anyone gone to kiteclubcabarete.com or would recommend other places to stay? |

We had a great time at Aqualina in Feb last year. They are not the cheapest but it is super nice. Book directly with them for the best price. There is tons to do in the area. I can't think of a better place to be should the wind die. It didn't die for us.

You will have a great time, book it and go. Just for a side note if you break, misplace or lose anything from fins, footstraps, stainless steel screws, or evern single lengths of kiteline for a few examples.. get your replacement parts from the one legged kiteboarder dude, he is easy to find he is the guy kiteboarding with one leg...no shit, the guy rips in the waves. Watching him is truely one of those how the $*#%& is he doing that moments. He hangs out at kitebeach near the EH Kiteboarding flags when he is not kiting.
PM me if you want more info on Cabarete... _________________ It's all good |

I've been there twice. Feb-Aug. Aug will have more windless days. The wind is like clockwork there..starts up about 10AM blows till dark. Gusty there is considered about 4 to 5 knot variance
I stayed both times at eXtreme Hotels. Was about $60/night right at kitebeach. Hotel to Beach ~100yards. Bar to beach <10ft. Great happy hour. Staff are great, and if you ask, the security guards will open the bar after hours for you when you get back from Downtown/Cabarete. Food is great there. I've had nothing but good times there.
The Kiteboarder mag just did a great writeup on the DR.
ALWAYS ask how much the taxi is before getting in. Otherwise they will screw you. Ask the hotel how much stuff should be so you know. The motoconcho (motocycle taxi's) are fun, cheapest transportation around. You can do downwinders, and just hail a motoconcho to take you back.
They even have kids that will roll up your gear and put it way for a buck or two. Some kids even setup your gear if they are in-training to work at the kite shop. Just double check you s$#t before flying.
