Yup. Makes sense to me. I remember getting up on the foil too fast right away, foil went one way and me another, but still connected by straps. "Holy crap. ...I am going to break my leg." End of session one.

Another one I'd add for newbs, wherever doing it....a wetsuit gives a little protection from sharp edges., if you fall on top of foil.

behind my boat ... steady power, steady pull

I found it to be just the opposite, but I guess it might depend on what boat you are behind. I was behind a Ski Nautique and that boat just goes a steady pace no matter what you do behind it so when you get some glide you'll start to overtake the boat and slack up pretty bad. When you are using a kite, the kite only really moves as you move so it's much smoother.

Maybe more than what boat, maybe depends somewhat on what foil...I am on the original carafino, the slowest foil there is, so not so much glide? Wink

But what I meant about steady pull was not needing to fly the kite while also trying to figure out the foil. For some people, that may be one of those rubbing your belly, while patting your head, while chewing gum multi task puzzles.

Anyways, whatever works, kite or boat, just have to get those 10 or so sessions under your belt until feel the flight. Pretty satisfying once you got it.
