Has anyone every ridden Vancouver Lake...?

Curious about the launch, water quality, and winds...
I heard it was do-able on S winds but not sure.

Are there any parks with decent beaches...

Just thinking about an inland/beginner spot for some freinds...something about 14 ft swell/ ocean/and 25 knots got them a little scared....?

but don't worry( guys who are going to tolovana still), I am pretty sure I am still in for tomm. anyways.

thanks, jake

Yeah thanks, I looked at some websites for Sailling Clubs on the Lake, but could only find one launch on Google.maps on the West side of the Lake.

Hey, I am very new to Kiteboarding however I do know this, Vancouver Lake is a horribly nasty body of water. Safe for swimming is subjective, they close the thing down two or three times a year for E-Coli scares.

As for frenchmans bar, is that on the Columbia or is it on a slew. The slews of the Columbia can be kind of nasty (Lake River) but the Columbia (even post Willamette) is pretty clean by urban river standards. I have been boating and wakeboarding in it for years and have never experienced anything remotely unpleasant. Well the end of Sauvies Island can be a bit distressing but it has nothing to do with wind or water.

the times i have ridden there its been southwest the way the beach curves west southwest would be the best. still its just not very good. on the other hand frenchans bar can get desent in southerlies but only if the water is low. the secret is to park at the free turnoff and hike to the pilings just down the river.
