if you guys go to tolovana, post a note... i'll come out and support...my shoulder still isn't ready to kite yet.

FYI, on a straight west wind, it's pretty fun...did it at manzanita... just don't jump onto the shore... but you get to ride inbetween the waves...pretty cool.... or, west wind is perfect for landboarding.

Hmm, I thought it looked mainly south on Sat. if so, then we are good.

I just hope the rain holds-off...
I think I might try and get there uber-early....have a early 8ish-noon session with the sun, but we'll see what tonight has in store for me.

Has anyone ever ridden Vancouver Lake on a south wind before...???
It looks like there is a beach on the west-side, which could be good for South winds... What's that water like?

I'd be down for an early session. Anyone else, we could carpool from Portland?

The snow forecast looks like rainy shit, lets break the trend and get out to the Coast for some rainy, freezing, storm kiting!!! Either way, mountain/coast you're going to get wet. Smile

In. I have a quad cab truck if that helps take more people.

I have to be back Portland by 4:30 at the latest. I want to take my own vehicle so I don't have to rely on someone else to adhere to my schedule. I can definitely take some people too if they don't mind getting out early and coming home early. Would anyone like to ride with me? I don't need any gas money, just some company would be cool!

We could meet up at Sunset transit center around 7 AM? This is assuming the forecast holds. Contact me privately if you're interested.

its dangerous for beginners for sure. if you put your kite down or loose your board in the current your screwed. tolovana would probably be pretty good though

We're hitting up Tolovana Park at Cannon Beach. I don't feel like being swept out to see, so I'll avoid "the mouth" of any river. Smile

Leaving Portland at 7 AM. My mobile number is 210-363-4624 if anyone wants a weather report. If you call and I don't answer, that's a good sign! Smile

a good spot would be siletz... it's a bay where the river goes out to sea in lincoln city.... perfect spot to teach someone during a south wind (or to get in a good sesh yourself!)

Yeah, just avoid the driftwood!

What's the weekend outlook on the Siletz? In a west wind up and down the bay sounds fun. Does that work?

seems like in a west wind it would be offshore wouldn't it? I've had my eye on Siletz for a while, is it shallow?

West wind is from the west, so onshore, but it's a bay so you don't need to worry about being blown out to sea anyway. The only problem is the East side of the bay (where you'd wind up) is full of driftwood because they've stopped removing it in order to preserve the Salmon habitat. Which I don't totally agree w/ because then the river is unnavagable. Depth is shallow / mud when the tide's out.

Watch your tides if you wanna try it because you need some water in there! I did my lesson there and body drug in like 2 feet of water. Everything was going fine until I got some air and ran out of water! Very Happy

btw: I've learned from experience that East wind in the Pac City -> Newport area is not doable because the mtns / dunes mess w/ the wind. Anybody have contradictory info from a spot?

i may have found a great Pac city W wind spot, but it's a hike down there. you can drive on the beach to the south of the turn-a-round though...

i agree with you on the inner bay though, the wind goes everywhere because of the mountains.

I think if you stay close to the dunes (toward the ocean), you'll stay out of the river current....check it out:

Yeah that's it, Rob-Staab park, but east wind was worthless. Confused
