Thanks for the support guys. Yeah totally BS, our customer service department would have heard about it if that was a real incident. Best thing is just to ignore it and move on I think. Our attorney says we could sue him for libel and easily win but I'd rather not make things worse with Ian than they already are. The guy can barely read, he would get totally steam rolled if they decided to throw the book at him. We'll see what the company decides to do (I have a lot of say in things but don't control it). Hopefully for Ian's sake it gets dropped.

Also if anyone posted stuff in this thread saying that ride engine products aren't solid I'd appreciate them getting deleted so that if people skim the thread they don't get misinformed. Thanks guys.

Gotta respectfully disagree with that. How else are people to know about durability or problems associated with this, or any product, if we only ever post about the positives? That's what makes forum reviews more legit than magazine reviews, because magazines have to sugarcoat reviews so as to not piss off the companies that are paying them for advert dollars.
Obviously we know Ian's story is made up it seems, but if someone posted a truthful product experience/opinion, it should stick.

Well - I will add another thumbs up for the Engine harness. I will be starting my 4th season on my custom Engine harness. I use it to kite year round on snow and water and it is still going strong. Even the webbing still looks great. Fantastic fit and one tough harness!

Starting my 9th season on my Prolimit Felix Signature Model. Bought back in 2007 for $80.00 brand new. Prior to that, I had only 2 Dakine Windsurf harnesses during my 21 year stint of pole surfing. Been windsurfing/kiting since 1984, there's no way in hell I'd pay $300.00 + for a harness. Any company asking that much for a harness should be charged with sodomy.

To add to my previous comment, I actually own a Ride Engline and love it, but I haven't had it for long so can't comment on its durability. Considering how much a kite costs I think money for a better harness is well spent since you use it every single session. Fit and comfort-wise the Engine is a game changer.

I can't wait to try it. My current harness rides up to my chin.

First World Problems kek! Laughing
Ride harnesses are great! i ride prolimit but that only because they gimme love Smile

There is a price for everything no reason to pull our Big P's out and stir the shit pot with em, and besides it's all based on personal rider preference, derrrrrrrrrrrrp! Rolling Eyes

Bottom line quite complaining about your first world bs and go kite! R.E. your harnesses look and are badass!

I would love to see a R.E. harness with a clear backsheet to show the guts, or honeycomb inside of it that could look badass (imo) similar to like when the twintip boards show the wood panels under the topsheet i like that look but what do i know kek!

I just meant posts that were related to Ian's, not honest reviews.

You get what you pay for. $80 harnesses totally work for attaching you to a kite, no argument there. $300 gets you a lot more comfort and performance though in my opinion. I think its silly that people drop so much money on all their other gear and then skimp on harnesses, being comfortable totally changes the riding experience.

^ Totally agree! The same logic with ski boots applies. It's the only piece of your equipment that is on your body. A well fitting harness can make or break your day/season. Looking forward to trying an RE out.

I would rather pay $300 for a harness that connects my body to the power of the kite than a new kite. I have a custom RE and hands down it is the best bang for my buck in gear purchases

I am wondering why you equate a persons choice to buy gear with their own money at a set price to be the same thing as sodomy. Is this a good thing or a bad thing for you? I don't want to be presumptuous.

any one in CO carry these? If not how do you go about getting the custom? I kind of want one now just to spite Ian Aldridge. Always thought he was a great rider but after this , kind of seems like a tool.

Last I heard they are not making custom harnesses at the moment.

I demoed one of the hex core prototypes last summer at the KB4K event. I didn't like it, after a few hours my ribs were killing me. I had the harness fitted by some one from ride so it was the right size and tightened correctly.

I was told they were aware of an issue with stocky body types and they had a fix for the problem.

I would recommend demo'ing one if possible.

I'll report on this after next week. I just got a new Hex and I definitely fit the stocky description.

To date, my harness was my first point of fatigue. To no fault of my old and worn out Taboo.

Hoping to get some time on it soon. Feels really good on dry land.
