				| Very nice - are those slopes in the background good for kite free turns if there is no wind? | |

				| There is tons of great terrain up there with or without a kite.
Forecasting is a little tricky, it can be easterly down lower & westerly up on the mtn. I have yet to find any wind sensors on the south side of the mtn, let me know if you do!

The plains of abraham though get lots of windy days.

				| Looks awesome! Thanks for posting the pics. How was the snow quality? Was it hard or did it warm up enough to melt a bit and be forgiving? Wouldn't wanna eat it on icy snow... | |

Yes, you need a sled unless you want to make it an overnighter. In that case you better know what you are doing.....Getting lost is a reality when the weather gets crappy. Besides, packing everything you need to spend the night out there and kiting gear would be a huge chorer when on foot, skis or snowshoes.

If you guys are serious about snowkiting on St. Helens get a sled. Shay knows where to go and is getting a grip on when the wind is a possibility. What he really needs is more sleds to go with him. We went up riding doubles and that sucks! All it takes is one 50 cent part to break and you are screwed. Imagine 2 riders 2 boards 2-3 kites and a 500 lbs hunk of metal stuck in the woods with no way to get out except hike. Bring your GPS, maps, compasses, two way radios, cell phones, warm clothes, tent, water, food etc.......it could be a long night or two.

Sledders unite and get up there with Shay.....even if you are not into snowkiting, the place is a must see......with a couple snowmobiles of course.......

				| Yeah - blancoh2o is right - we usually skin up to the top a couple times a year and ski down (about 5000 vertical - a great run) the route from Marble Mt Snopark goes pretty much straight up.
The plains of Abraham would be a super long shlog with the kite gear. (7 miles? further down the closed road - this is also the top of Ape Canyon Trail - great Mt Bike ride in the summer)

Shay - thanks for the tow in - sled heaven up there.
