Water:
The water is turquoise blue and crystal clear and flat inside the reef. Shallow water Flat or Choppy Water Waves
Beach:
The beach is one of the best in the world. Wide and long and pink sand!
Weather:
Wetsuit is only an option on cold days in Jan and Feb, but never really necessary. Water is 21°C in winter and 26°C in summer.
Wind can be counted on 4-5 days per week from October-Dec and February-May. January is hit and miss and the summer months you can only expect wind 1-2 days a week. In the windy season, wind ranges from 15-30 kts and usually blows a nice 20-22 kts. The wind is usually blowing from the NE to SE and can be completely onshore sometimes.
How to get there:
Fly into Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or Nassau Bahamas and take a flight to North Eleuthra. From there take a water taxi accross the harbour to Harbour Island. It's on the east side of the island. The best is to catch the high speed ferry called "Bohingi" in Nassau to Harbour Island.

Iquique - North Chile
For end of october:
http://kitebeaches.com/kitebeaches/viewspot.php?id=1376
Out of middle nowhere, choppy water..
======================================================================

Nice 5-6 miles beach: Pichidangui - Closest town: Los Vilos
http://kitebeaches.com/kitebeaches/viewspot.php?id=1394
South wind is the best in Chile. 10-20 knots most of the time from September to March.
Flat with waves 3 to 6 feet at the end of the bay. Shallow water Flat or Choppy Water Waves
Beach:
Nice and soft sand, a bit crowded in summer season, but plenty space to launch and land. 5 to 6 miles long beach.
Weather:
In summer the weather is very nice, with tempertures around 25ºC and water 17ºC. Wetsuit is needed 4/3 mm.

========================================================================
LA RINCONADA!!!http://kitebeaches.com/kitebeaches/viewspot.php?id=385

Water:
Cool clear water, choppy, no waves. Shallow water Flat or Choppy Water Waves
Beach:
Nice beach with sand, no grass, no rocks, some garbage from the camping done there. There's enough space to launch and land the kite.
Weather:
In winter a wetsuit is a must, day temperatures go from 16-20°C, on summer it gets warmer, 24-32°C and short wetsuits can be used. The summer season, which is the best, goes from mid October to April with a day range is from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a peak between 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Off season is possible but you take your chances, maybe one day out of four. Water 16-18°C.
Wind:
North: offshore
Northwest: sideoffshore
West: sideshore
Southwest: sideonshore
South: onshore
Southeast: sideonshore
East: sideshore
Northeast: sideoffshore
If you want to go to a 100% secure site, this is the spot. On summer the wind is onshore all the time, everyday. Its day range starts from 6-8 kts at 11:00 a.m. picking up to 20-25 kts at midday (2-3 p.m.) which lasts for about 3-4 hours, and decreases from 6-8 p.m.
How to get there:
You have to take a 2 hour flight or a 20 hour bus from Santiago to Antofagasta city. In Antofagasta you have to take a taxi to the Rinconada beach, the beach is very long (about 3 km) and has an East-West orientation, tell the taxi driver to leave you at the West point, at the natural reserve area. Over there you can prepeare your camping and get ready to have a great time.
Rules & Restrictions:
The locals are extremely friendly, if they meet you they will probably offer their homes for you to stay, they will show you the city, take you to bars at night, to the beach next day (if you are able to get-up after the party), etc. - Chilean hospitality towards foreigners - you have to see to believe.

Mexico Kiting:

Baja in Winter is really good for strong reliable winds, ocean swell and chop, not really flat.

Acapulco is very nice from Jan to early May, with big waves and nice clean 12-20 knots (a bit stronger very often). The wind is not so reliable here, with typically a few days of wind, a few days without, but this is my favourite place to ride. There are alway waves, so you will always be able to surf. Nightlife is killer. Can be for all budgets as well.

Puerto Vallarta is Very nice from Jan-Feb to June-July, with stronger winds, there are many spots to ride, is pretty flat with a bit of shorebreak. This area is really beautiful, and there are tons of things to do, great surf, great partying, all budgets possible.

Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cozumel. These places rely on frontal winds, no thermals, which typically last for several days at a time, but usually stronger in the early morning to noon. The area is amazing, turqouise blue water, great partying, great ruins, eco parks, scuba diving, etc. This is for all budgets as well, as you can find some cheap places to stay and eat. Best wind season is winter as well, early november to early april. Wind is hit or miss, but i have always gotten wind there on every one of my trips, and kiting there is magical! There is all conditions there as well, some places have outer reefs so water is pretty flat. Some places get nice waves like cozumel.

None of these places are very crowded, there is so much space for everyone to ride. Progreso might be the only spot that can get boring if there is no wind, but there are places to go nearby.

It would be insane to get a bus from mexico City to Merida! It is a 24 hour drive, longer by bus, and it is cheaper to just fly there direct from Mexico City. You can book your whole flight up to Merida.
You don't need a car if you stay somewhere on the beach in Puerto Progreso, you could rent houses on the beach for pretty cheap, let me know and i will put you in touch with someone who can help you with that. There are buses, but for short distances taxis are better, and unexpensive, make sure you convene on the price before. As to puerto Progreso, it is no the most beautiful little town, but it is calm and windy, and cheap. The ocean is a nice color when there haven't been north winds.
There are a bunch of regular kiters in Merida, some of the best in Mexico. But during the week they work, study, etc, so they may get away for the afternoons or just the weekends. There is one gringo who lives on the beach and kites all day, i have not met him but they all say he is a really nice guy.
DON´T TAKE THE BUS TO CANCUN FROM MEXICO CITY

But do rent a car there.

Try these new LOW COST Mexican Airlines:

www.click.com.mx

www.interjet.com.mx

Some of Interjet´s flight leave from Toluca! If so don´t worry about moving from Mexico City to toluca it is only half an hour away so you can take a taxi or ride a bus.

Also check out:

www.aeromexico.com

www.mexicana.com

These ones are Mexico´s regular airlines and you sometimes find good deals. Check out the "VTP" and "Gran Plan" Promotions.

I´ve also heard that "Lineas Aztecas" is OK.

Stay away from: Aviacsa and Aerocalifornia
Do consider:

The Cancun / Playa del Carment / Tulum area is the most expensive part of Mexico. Just like everywhere in the world there are several options for different budgets BUT it still is the most expensive place you can go in Mexico.

There are not many things to do in Progreso it is the weekend beach for all the people that live in Merida and during the week it is mainly a commercial port.

Acapulco has very inconsistent wind

Veracruz is good only when cold fronts hit the coast.
=====================

South Padre:

Flying into HRL - Harlingen 50 min
BRO - Brownsville - 30 min

South Padre's best month is November. We get Norther cold fronts that create
5 days of good south wind, followed by one day of amazingly strong, big
gnarly surf on north wind. As the front moves offshore, the sun comes out,
the winds drops below 40 and we get huge, clean swells rolling in to the
horizon. South wind here is best with 3-5 foot surf, sometimes much bigger.
We do downwinders always from Isla Blanca park to Wanna Wanna Bar or Beach
access 5, either 4 or 6 miles. We'll do that 4-5 times in a day. Sometimes
we do the whole 13 miles, but then we have to shuttle cars. The shorter ones
are more convenient with the taxis.

On light days on the island, we'll go to Holly Beach 20 minutes away on the
mainland. Pretty much everyone who comes here thinks it's the best flat
water spot on Earth. It's always windy there. The beginners and
intermediates ride almost exclusively at the North Flats. The wind is not as
good there. Unless there are closed low pressure sytems in the Gulf, it will
blow everyday here in the fall and spring.
