that isn't hydroplaning. it also isn't hydrofoiled. it's just heeling onto its leeward hull.

there are some experimental sailboats that actually are foiled. the speed record ones and the quirky british design class moths.

Very cool that he can change the foil attack angle. I think it would be fun to try kiting with a air chair modified board.

they look cool in theory, but people seem to have lost interest pretty fast. the bindings must be cumbersome, and then you need to ride toeside half the time. i talked to a guy in a maui who hit a reef with one and lost the foil...

i wonder if you really need the boots--they make you lose a lot of feel and add weight. it would be interesting to see if you could control it strapless. but then you could fall and hit it.

maybe make them lighter, and accept some flex as a tradeoff.

hein, why don't you make one?
