There is a decent snow buildup from Vancouver to Woodland right now. I know some of you are scouting google maps as I am for some local fields. Wonder how windy it is up at the Ross Complex in the Couve?

In addition to WP I've long been waiting for a chance to hit the fields at Wilson High (might not be windy enough), and there are some huge open hilly pastures at the Lake Oswego/West Linn border (Stevens Meadows & along Rosemont Rd) that might even offer a bit of wind exposure. Not exactly sure what is private vs. public but there are a fair number of parks here and it is just grass fields that hopefully have been mowed down enough to make it work.

Hopefully the snow will stick and even build a bit into Saturday so I can make it out as well.... for those who can get out tomorrow, enjoy.

Hadn't thought about the fallow fields in the Woodland 'bottoms'. I will check it out.

I hiked up to the top of Powell Butte today with board and kites and found great wind-super clean- but not nearly enough snow. I think for that place to work you would need like a two foot dump to cover the thorn bushes and punjabs(cut off bushes). It could be really dangerous without a substantial snow cover. I am gonna go check out Fernhill park later, but am sure the wind will be swirly because of all the obstructions.
I am willing to drive up to hood to find some spots tomorrow if anybody is interested?

Fun Day that was! Yeah, that spot is down near Cottonwood Park, all the way east in that industrial area. I've not been down there since, so I don't know if it's been built on or not... Too sick to try it right now. Sad

How was the wind at Clear Lake Gman? Was that a hike/ski in - or park and kite? Looks like fun in the pics. Is there a sensor you were looking at to consider making the drive?

About a mile slight downhill ski in and skin out - not much wind on the timberline sensor but was honkin on the lake / some areas of slush to be avoided
