Looks good right now, tides are good for the whole day, hopefully the wind gods favor us the whole day too. Rooster gusting to 61 now and supposed to get stronger, 80 - 90 mph gusts possible according to Channel 8... Shocked God's way of saying "Go to the beach." Very Happy

what about PDX airport/Broughton Beach?

In case anybody else is jonesin':

I had good luck there last Monday when it was 50-60 at Rooster. It was 8-10m at Broughton on that day.

And that Broughton Beach is nice! Nice bathrooms and open beach-like launching area. Views of Hood.

Enjoy the ponds Nak!

Sella and Dog Pound, I'm down for a pond sesh tomorrow if I can be back by mid afternoon. I'll be working on that Booty Pass tonight Smile

To whoever wants to know: Broughton Beach is renovated since the original write up. Also known as "Marine Drive", it's right off Marine Drive. Easy access from East Portland, closer than Rooster. Last time it was 4m at Rooster, it was 8-10m there, I had a great little lunchbreak session on booted board and then surfboard as it got lighter.

Not sure what else to say about it. Can self launch and land there, it's wide open, just a bit gravelly so the leading edge will take a little abuse on the launch. Great amenities--I changed in the bathroom that was clean and had running water sink.

PM me--happy to help my peeps get out there

I kited here (marine park) on a west this past summer but not on easterlies.
I'm sure it would be great. I think this is the spot that has the new upgraded pay to park lot. anyhow never had any issues there. but still a bit nippy.
ponds would be best option today. high tide at 2:45

Fairly steady i take it? What size kites?

I flew a 2m ocean rodeo, Cal's kite, at Rooster today. Powered enough to boost, stayed on beach, dry and warm.

At ponds I started out on my 6. I was perfectly powered for about an hour. Wind dropped a bit so I switched to my 9 the rest of the session.

where exactly is this? I've driven out there to find myself in the wrong spot. I get lost easy...

I may go tomorrow with the wife if it looks blowy.

The ponds put out good to day. Here are a few shots. The last one is for the ladies. You can thank me later Drew. Cat like reflexes, Moose like style.
