How am I a racist by saying to park and walk?
By the way. "Melo" is a joke. It's not literal. Moron.
Kiting IS pretentious. How many people do you know that can afford to buy the gear, take time to do it and travel around? Unless you're an entitlement person who sponges off everyone else, or a loser who lives in a van by the river expecting everyone else to take care of you. One day, you will wake up when you are 40 and say? "Oh shit, I only make $10 an hour & have no retirement plan. Obama will take care of you, right? Or I will by working my ass off to pay taxes. Oh wait, I almost forgot. This is the land of trust fund babies. Someone else did all the work for you..just keep collecting your check. Whatever. You may be able to pull a "sick" trick but can you pay a mortgage payment or braces for your kid? Get real.
Smoke some more dope and keep writing so I can be entertained. _________________ Be kind to Kooks |

One more time... Please move back to where you recently came from.
Most of us kiting in the Northwest are over 40, have real jobs, and are just getting tired of your useless rants. Oh, and some of us can still pull off those silly kiddie tricks. Nice too know that your online name is a joke, just as you are becoming in the kite community.
Please put down the bottle of wine and back away from the computer... |

May be a good time to explore. It's Rooster Rock season anyways. Or how about Stevenson? You can do easterlies AND westerlies there.
It's just kiting. There are other issues that are a bit more important..like no paychecks for food/shelter due to political theater. Kiting is a priviledge in this economic storm.

If you are an Indian (especially one who fishes), you can do whatever the hell you want AND enjoy not paying any taxes
We stole their nation in the name of White Supremacy, slaughtered them by the millions , rounded them up and forced them into concentration camps, broke every promise made by this "government" and you have the audacity to malign their entire race, you should change your moniker to "RACSIST AGRO KITE GIRL!!!!!" |
Anyone who thinks we stole land from native Americans is welcome to give their property back. anyone...anyone??
Melo was trying to make two points.
1. That Native Americans are allowed to fish whenever and wherever they want.
2. Native Americans enjoy paying no taxes.
I do not know if these statement are true 100% of the time , but my experience has led me to believe they are mostly true. I am not sure why that is racist.
Why not argue the point instead of calling people racist? |

So the federal government spent some dough on building a gate. And they gotta pay some federal employee to lock it and open it.
Why?
Seriously, Why?
If its not to piss off taxpayers what is the reason?
Anyway to find out who made this decision? Which politician or federal employee decided this would be a good idea? _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

You're right about not stealing the land, at least here in the West.
In the 1850's NW tribes ceded something like 64 million acres of land in exchange for the perpetual right to fish "at all usual and accustomed places in common with [white settlers]." So, yes, effectively whenever and wherever they want subject to sharing "in common," meaning they can't have ALL the fish, just enough to make a modest living on.
(Blumm & Steadman at http://lawlibrary.unm.edu/nrj/49/3-4/653-706.pdf)
.... aaand here's a 10 second fact check on the tax issue: IRS Revenue Bulletin 2006-15
http://www.irs.gov/irb/2006-15_IRB/ar09.html
"This ruling emphasizes to taxpayers, promoters, and return preparers that there is no right to exemption from federal income tax for Native Americans under an unspecified “Native American Treaty.” Any return position based on an unspecified “Native American Treaty” has no merit and is frivolous. As a general rule, Native Americans are subject to federal income tax just like every other American." |

Shortly after my kite session last Sunday I saw a bald eagle flying over the Rogue River on my way home.
Who gave that dickhead permission to fly during a government shutdown?!! _________________ I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.

I wish I had a dollar for every time the Dems and Reps raised the debt ceiling in the 25th hour and started printing money again. I could use them to bribe farmers for food during the one time that they don't!
Speaking of Indians, at least Rajan gets it:

Maybe Yellen will take a lesson.

Now look what you have started Pete! We are between seasons, people are getting bored, they turn to NWKite for entertainment! Just remember what's going on now when you go to vote on Nov, 2014 next year. I'm going kiting tomorrow even if they do close the locks! _________________ moondog |

Excellent points made by all, but one can't expect that their opinions/posts be considered credible when rife with grammatical and spelling errors?
Some people on this forum never cease to amaze me. We supposedly all have something in common and the forum has amazing potential for, at a minimum, interesting off-topic discussions. Instead we have a pile of garbage that sounds like it was generated by teen-aged kids. <-- There is excellent on-topic content, however. |

Are proper grammar and punctuation important?
Here is what professor wrote about the topic:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324591204579039544005041908.html
Quote: | Suppose, for example, you don't know that a semicolon is properly used to join two closely related independent clauses. Based on three decades of teaching English prep courses, I can assure you this is a safe supposition since no more than one in a hundred remedial students can define the term "clause." You're therefore liable to write something like this: "Oedipus attempts to avoid his fate by running away from home, it's a decision he will come to regret."
That's wrong. You're using a comma where you should be using a semicolon. But does it really matter? After all, the reader can still figure out what you're trying to say.
Yes, it does matter. It really matters. As the reader's eyes scan down the lines of your page, deciphering your meaning, he's going to come to that comma—and it's going to look wrong. He's going to think, "That looks wrong," or maybe even "Hey, shouldn't that be a semicolon?"
But at the moment he's thinking one of those things, guess what he's no longer thinking about? He's no longer thinking about what you're trying to say. |
