It would be in everyone's best interest to help identify this individual. This is not a good representation for 99% of us who enjoy kiteboarding. How will the WS community feel about working together on access issues and common objectives when we have these kind of episodes. Perhaps there is another side of the story ? Any idea on kite , color , description of said kiter ?

Kiter would do well to come forward and turn himself in. Because he will eventually be revealed anyway. I cannot imagine the weight on his conscience. Intentional or unintentional, there is no excuse for leaving the scene after a collision.

Did this happen yesterday? (Thursday) I was riding lower Wells / Wunderbar area from 4:00 - 6:00 and it had it's moments of defensive kiting wild gust rides, the worst I've experienced all summer. If anyone was upwind of me I was cutting downwind quickly and consciously creating space buffers, which I never do.

However, gusts come and go and riding away after a collision is entirely lame and unacceptable. A big apology and cash for a new mast would be a good start for this guy to right the karma account.

Thankful to hear only a mast was broken.

Not representative of the local kiting community. Hopefully, someone will come forward and make it right. There are many who do not participate on this forum. So maybe others who were kiting that area and that day can provide some clues.........

My understanding is the windsurfer did not just have a broken mast from the incident but also suffered facial injury.

There is no point in mentioning the wind conditions of the day. This is irrelevant in a case of collision and leaving the scene. There are no excuses.

The kiter would do well to walk in to the HRPD as soon as possible and make a report. The more time goes by, the more malicious it looks in the eyes of the law. Also, it motivates the victim even more to get an ambulance chaser involved.

Instead of the windsurfer crowd being focused on suing the kiter and asking the person in question to report to police it would help to know simple details like gender, age, color of kite, board, or clothing? Confused

He only remembers his face nothing else. He understands stuff happens. No police just would like a new mast. I told him he should post this incident as I seem to be talking for him now. Just not his style.

Geez what a jerk. I would at the very least said "sorry". I have unfortunately put myself in a position above someone before-- I'm just glad I didn't make contact on the way down. But I've learned to keep more distance. Sorry to hear.

As another poster mentioned some additional details would help .

I saw a kiter and windsurfer in close proximity in the water at lower Wells yesterday but before saying more would like to know what time of day we are talking about.

Did the niknas wells island web cam pick up the incident. It might be worth a call to gorge net. http://www.sailworks.com/bp/Gorge_Wind_Cams.html

Did anybody else see this happen? I find it kind of suspect that nobody else saw it and the windsurfer didn't get ANY info about ANYTHING other than his injuries and details about what broke. Was the kiter male or female? No description of the supposed kiter whatsoever. I feel like I would have at least seen what color the kite was or something if somebody landed on my head right????
