This couple came into the bar last night and told me what happened to their daughter at Kanaha earlier that day. They said it was a Tiger Shark but who knows? With a 10 inch jaw size it doesn't really matter WHAT kind of shark it was.
It's another beautiful windy day here in Maui but I think the crowds might be a bit thinner for the next day or so.
Life is too short for second chances, although we do get many of them.

glad she's OK and just the board got chomped. sounds like a tiger since it kept coming back at the board. I guess twin tips make good lures?

Is that covered by warranty? Or is that just wear and tear?

I've always felt pretty safe up and riding,,, until I saw the video of the surfer taken off a wave by a white. Coupla years ago, great footage as you can see not one, but TWO sharks converge on the guy simultaneously. Probably saved the guys bacon cuz the one shark had the guy lined up, and the shark from the other direction made the first miss.
Shark two got him by the hand, lost a coupla fingers as I recall. Anyone have a link to that footage, I can't find it anymore. Can't remember but I think it was Norcal. _________________ Kite Repair? AND LABRADORS Call me.(509) six 37-four five 29

I think this is the vid you're referring to? It was in South Africa.

The Maui rules, I was told, was to stay out of the water after dusk, stay away from murky water, and stay away from river outlets after a rain storm. In low visibility water, a shark may mistake you for prey.
