I put my 12m in a tree at Sherman island 3 years ago. Put some pin holes and tears in it. Put the patch tape on that came with the kite and it is still there after a shit load of sessions. Same trip to sherman, put the kite back in the bushes and tore a 3 ft tear in the canopy. Had a guy who did pro canopy and sail repairs sew it back together ( He did it while I waited and if I can remember right, charged me $70) , and it is still holding and the kite flies great.

Your kite is expensive, why do a cheap reapair just to have to do it again. Just my two cents.

Thanks for chiming in Mark. Much appreciated.

Also, I screwed up the link before to the exact moment that guy pulls out his 'secret' sticky board. Here's the correct timestamp link 13:00 mins in...

probably contact cement on the cardboard. it'll stay tacky enough to grip, but only adhere to sticky stuff. I made a vacuum table once, same idea, hold stuff in place. Scotch tape works just as good and you can actually line up the thing perfectly cuz of the grid. I get compulsive about even one grid off even tho it barely matters.

The guy in the video is doing a lousy repair that you can do at home, if you want to have an obvious repair on your brand new fifteen hundred dollar kite.

There's utility, but no art. To be fair, thats an old vid, and that guy does excellent work, just don't think he's giving away his secrets Wink

Expense of the kite + need for safe equipment when a mile or two off the Oregon Coast = Dangler repair. No need to even think twice about it..............
