Someone want to create a flyer that we can all just print up at home and give them to people that are new to Jones. There are regulars and most of them know eachother - when someone new or not from the area shows up we can give them a flyer. Or if we see someone parking in a way they shouldn't be parking then we can put the flyer on their windshield.

The flyer should state that we are using private property and our access can be taken away.

I always use the booshes to change in & out of my wetsuit, so this might be mis-interpreted by a casual observer to be crapping.

In WSDOT we supply these for some jobs that are too small to warrent renting a honey bucket. I never tried, shy bowel syndrome:

Regarding this "kite bay"? Since 1991, I've been coming to Jones about a dozen times a summer as a kiter & windsurfer. I have never used this "kite bay". Almost everyone I know from up here in Tacoma just parks on the asphalt, pumps up a few feet in front of the car, launch the kite, walk straight to the beach, bee-line to SS pond.

as a contractor who gets to rent honey buckets for our jobsites i must say that there may be a issue with some levels of vandalism.

There is always a real attraction for some segment of society to tip and abuse these shitters. Pick a good spot to chain or otherwise attach it in a stable upright position.

A few metal posts or a good shady spot by a tree is what I would suggest.

The costs or renting and maintaining goes up if there are idiots pushing it over or sloshing it around...... Also you need to get an idea of how many users to accommodate .

I always think of going to concerts in the gorge ampi when the pyramid of feces is erected in the overused camodes. Then peeps will still shit in the neighbors place.

It is just time for people to do the right thing and bring there own toilet. I will most likely bring a Ammo Box Toilet. Less car travel accidents that way. Do a Google search for ammo box toilet system. A clothes changing garment would be a great visual shield.

I don't know how often you go to Jones, but believe me, people DO park either on the sand in front of the bay, on the sand near the entrance that is in line with the bay, or by the road side in line with the bay, all of which is private property. I've kited Jones many times, and on a busy summer day there can easily be more than 20 cars parked on Mr. Fraser's property with kiters AND windsurfers launching from that bay area.

Guys, please... we are trying to make this work. We have a chance to work with the land-owners and take this whole thing in a positive direction. If we start bickering and pretending that there isn't an issue, its just going to fall apart. Lets keep the conversation here productive... the flyer idea is a good one... Motto, why don't you print some up and hand them out the next time you're out there? Maybe have Nate or someone from the CKGA give it a quick once over before you do just to make sure its in-line with the other efforts being made. Bringing your own porta-potti is also a good idea... anything that resolves the immediate issue of people crapping on private property.

"Barfly" uses a swimmers jacket. I'm always envious during cold weather suit-ups because "barfly" stays dry and warm from the winds.

Sounds good. I'll prepare one and post it up on the forum for comment. I'm using the German no crapping sign - that is awesome!!

I could actually make some signs like that... when I get a chance, I'll contact the owner and ask him if that would be something he would want. Thanks for getting on the flyers!

I can add some wrap around 'Jones Beach' text if you want. This saying says it all to me, same as 'Dont shit where you eat', 'Dont dip your pen in the company ink', etc. In short, take care of your launch.

don't shit where you ride OR on the neighbors may be the more important statement.

playing with your shit takes some fun out of your day. But try and be civilized.

As a visitor from Canada I have kited Jones Beach regularly in summer since 2005 and can certainly agree that it is a good spot if the coast not working. Probably kited Jones 40- 50 times and always park and launch from blacktop area. Toilet (lack thereof) not a problem for me as I stay at a B and B not too far away on Hwy 30 but I would see it as a real issue if I was a local in the area.

Toilet paper blowing all over the treed area behind the picnic tables, such as they are, etc.

"Johnny on the Spot" definitely needed and I hope most of us would be happy to contribute though a donation box or dues from NSKA or similar?

Glad to see this area getting some attention and thanks to all who are working on it.

David
