I windsurfed there a few years back when my wife was going to school at WSU. I wanted to kite but the launch is not good and I was alone. Wind is gusty and only on about half of the river. It blew there when there were high wind warnings in the desert. It has been said many times on this forum that the kiting sucks in the far East of Washington and I agree. Best to drive to Boardman.

you know....mabey sella and bam bam are on to something here. I thing it would be a great idea to house boat that section of the river down. How great would that be. A sorta adventure or something. Shotguns, fishing and kite boarding would be a great holiday! If anyone wanted to put something together like that, it would be fun.

I wonder if and when someone will take advantage of the afternoon "up-canyon" breeze and kite a section of the Snake River between Hellers bar and the Salmon River? Surfing holes, rock walls, eddy lines, all the 'rock kickers', drift boat gunnel 'slidders'...

Hazardous? Yes...but the look on the faces of Jet-boaters, Drift-boaters,Fishermen, Kayaker's and Rafter's faces...priceless.

However, the Snake is a gorgeous untapped area and many kite gems still waiting to be de-virginized so I like Bams attitude. You can take a boat from Lewiston/Clarkston all the way to Hood so I thought that would make a great 10-day houseboat/kite trip etc. Kite, float, BBQ, drink and shoot birds the whole way down. Very Happy

a2lowvw,

You've windsurfed Chief Timothy? I am a total newb, but I've got a couple lessons coming up in HR in a couple of weeks. I live in Troy, about 45 min from Clarkston/Lewiston. I've been thinking about tryin Chief Timothy after I'm comfortable with my skills. Is Chief Timothy ok for a newb, or is it better left to more experienced riders?

I've also figured I'd try around Boyer Park.

Dave
