So many people have mentioned: "let me know when you are going next time".

OK. The forecast for this Sunday, March 3rd is looking good right now for snowkiting at Indian Rock. Good wind, sunshine, and plenty of snow. The only question is temperature. I would like to see it a little warmer so that there is more of a guarantee for corn snow conditions rather that icy crust. Forecast is calling for 40 so it should be great especially with sunny skies.

Thanks Ken, Monica, Steve, Hunter and Matt for making it happen today!
What a rad spot! Maybe next time it will be a bit softer, but really can't complain!

We counted 9 snowkiters on absolutely beautiful day. Here are a couple of photos. Watch for the next "Call" when conditions are lined up.

Hike or sled. On Sunday there was 1 sled and everyone else hiked.

Ron, Jim and I rented this quad with trailer for about eighty bucks a day. It made the hike considerably shorter, plus it's a blast to drive.

If anyone is heading up on Sunday, I'd pitch in for a rental/day like this. My snowkite trip to ID was canceled due to lack of snow so, it would be great to get a day in.

That Quad helps with the hike in...but will still get stuck. I'd throw down $$ for a snowmobile rental fee to shuttle in as "I think" the ride in is about 5 miles???? You don't need a lot of sled to make it in so if anybody has an older 2-up that would be quite choice. Idea

What sensor do you look at for this spot? Most places don't seem to have a lot of wind for the weekend...........

Depending on how far up you can get on the nearest road (not sure if road is plowed?) it looks like it could be less than a mile form the road to the big clearing.. and somewhere between 1 - 1.5k vertical ft. Never been up there though, just looking at goog maps..

If the snow is soft, you can't drive anywhere near the clearing. I drove my wife's Toyota pretty far up the road. Some of the snowmobilers were amazed how far we made it before deciding it was not worth the risk of going further. Driving out was more of a challenge since the snow softened through the day. The skin or snowshoe in from the "road" varies depending on how much snow there is. A mile is a a huge underestimate though. It was about 2-3 miles from where I parked.

If you really want to make the most of it, get a snowmobile and drive your tow rig up the road as far as it takes to ride in on the snowmobile. If you choose to make the hike, take a gps so you don't get lost up there.
