Took a camping trip to the north side of the Columbia near Astoria.
Cross the Megler bridge, take a right, drive 30 minutes to Altoona.
Found a SW wind spot with 100 yards of sand. Still close enough the ocean to get the SW storm clearing winds. Beautiful territory over there.
Google earth it if you want to find it...I really can't explain how to get there.
Picture of the beach....sand extends 100 yards to the East....and the beach gets really wide. This is HIGH tide...not low tide.

And if you look closely you can see a GIANT sand spit sticking out to the left of the island in the photo.

Yeah.
I just took the ATV from where we were camping.
But you can see the beach from the road.
The biggest, and best beach, is a little ways down....it faces more west/southwest....and is very large like jones beach.
Not sure how to get to it yet.
