Can I add that if you still suck at slalom you still ride a wakeboard. Just like if you sucked skiing you hopped on a snowboard!!!

I thought it was if you fantasize about being knee deep in pussy (i.e. more than one Very Happy) you chose to snowboard, and if you like taking multiple planks at once you where heaps keen to ski. Whatever your into...

This is the time of year all this bitchen from wind/ sun starved kiters makes me miss the summer time posts of dogs at the event site, newbies doing anything, kids being anywhere, and who gives the best lessons and where.
Ahh I can't wait for these important rants to show up again.

Pepi - I'm no hater. I just watched that video and cracked up. Just reminded me of old times. I don't know Shannon Best. I have no angst with any manufacturer, store, school or rider. Well...maybe some riders who are really mean spirited. But I'm a forgiver if there are apologies made. Personally, if I hate anything it's the hateful posts. This is kite boarding for crying out loud.. a recreational sport that we are all priviledged to do that is suppose to be fun. Gotta say...it has been really fun hanging out with The BEST crew here in Spi. Great attitudes. Also supporting the SS brand.. but I prefer not to get into a brand war on nwkite or at all. It's hard when you have friends riding all things or repping them. Not here to make waves...just ride them.

3 event waterskiing is Slalom, Trick and Jump. The Skurfer was for recreational family boats. They had their place. We rode on a wakeboard when the water was choppy. The best wakeboarders back then came from being the best trick skiers. Any of the 3 events are harder than kiting or wake boarding. You try sking a course at 34 mph and 32 off (my personal best). I don't care what any of you say..there is something going that fast that is thrilling and I love driving a tourny boat.

Oh Mel, it's all part of the forum, I wasn't criticizing you, I was poking you for stepping shin deep into the pointless discussion.

Remember, I used to work for one of the biggest wakeboard mfgs, add to that my age, so I totally know where your above comment comes from as well, no worries.

And, yes, wiping out at 32 off hurts a shit ton. Was there back in the day watching Andy Mapple knocking himself unconscious in competition.

Sella,
3-event water-skiing tournaments include Slalom, Tricks, then Jumping. They save the jumping for the last day since that's where everyone smokes themselves.

Crazy. I've seen the occasional ramps on lakes but I've never seen anybody actually hit one. I can't imagine the beating your knees would take.

i just saw this. usually this stuff doesn't interest me, but this dude is so much fun and also lends some logic to this post. I recall someone said that Best may have been making some room for team riders. Anyway, hope this doesn't make me gossipy.
