Wed Jan 02, 13 6:14 am another snow kite bend thread ? |
|
|
Hey guys,
So what's the deal with snow kiting in bend? Apparently the good spots are all off limits now, and the spots down near the flats are sparsely covered this time of year?
Did I get the gist of it or is there any hope?
thanks. A group of us are heading up to Bachelor this weekend and I would prefer to snowkite if it was possible. |

Yeah I think you just about covered it there.
When you look at the map for good spots they are by and large located in the wilderness where, apparently, we aren't aloud.
The whole thing is the basis for what could be a great discussion on what and who the Wilderness areas are actually for and what defines a vehicle or piece of equipment that utilizes 'mechanical advantage'.
Horses are allowed and bikes are not. This makes sense.
Kites are not allowed based on their use of 'mechanical advantage'. It seems to me that by this logic the use of levers, pulleys, and climbing gear like ascenders and cams should also be banned. |
