I have been looking around for info and not finding any. Anyone know? Looks kinda like this festival might have died. Did the town have problems with it? Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

Due to lack of snow the sport of SNOWKITING has been cancelled and replaced with
NORTH-POLE BOARDING.
Half as thrilling, twice as gay and 10x more lycra than a Whitesnake reunion concert.

Lets have an informal event! Just pick a weekend and rally! Create a Facebook page to coordinate. Keep it simple! What ya think?

Sounds like a good plan. I would would really like to go. I have tried for the last 3 years but every year something gets in the way. I will have to look at the calendar.

Never a sure thing, but the past few years the end of February or early March has offered the best kiting on the prairie. I would love to help in anyway possible to make this happen.

President's day weekend looks promising. Feb 16th, 17th and if you have president's day off the 18th. What do people think?

I'm in and will donate to the cause. Last year it was on....then cancelled late....so they tried to make it informal but lost momentum after the weather forecast was shit. Those who went though...ended up scoring. (Feb 24th timeframe last year.)

Really, no one took the bait on the 'cancelled' comment?
For realz tho, Fairfield loves it when out of town Kiters show up & support their economy. Book rooms, bunk up double, throw down during the day and eat Jim Dandy's pizza/drink beer at the local pubs. Everybody wins!
Us Lo-Cals are down with an informal event, shit we'll be there anyway but we're all about sharing the stoke and mixing it up.

Fri Dec 14, 12 9:39 pm Oh where O where are Monty and Trisha, making babies? |

Good topic, yes "if" Monty and Trisha can't pull off the event this year we should pull a grassroots effort together. The Chamber of Commence has contacted me, although I still haven't been able to contact Trisha through Facebook, I would love for them to pass the touch to someone that's interested. I've got alot fun idea's like Kite-n-seek, GPS challenge (King/Queen of Vert), Most Steez, Best photo of the weekend, and of course one big ass ho down at the Hill City Saloon. Of course the premise for any "non event" event, would be to throw good times, but it would be really nice to raise some money for the local snowmobile club to insure good standing with them.
Hey Jmatic, I say we organize a thigh burner kite-athon via PBR fest for the OR,WY,MT,UT boys and girls and see who pukes first.

True dat, A massive barnburner throwdown would be sick.
The heroes of Snowkite Soldier stoke-athon are tied up in Bend. They're baby boy is due Feb so any 'event' this year would be informal.
How's about:
Snowkite Capture the Flag
Longest or Highest Glide contest
'Around the World' race
Best POV edit (shot, edited & presented @ Hill City after party).
Ya know, shit like that.
Sure starting to miss days like this........

I would love to see something happen in Fairfield this year! I had planned months in advance last year and no go so I rode the stoke all day and into the sunset for 4 days I would love to see more of the kite community show up out here the first two years were really sweet events. Hill City and Fairfield really NEED something like this to boost a small stuggling community... this could get really big if there were some consistency to this event...I would love to donate my time to help if there is going to be an informal thing happening this year. And would help organise in the future for more years to come. I live in Boise and travel that road every weekend, and even in the summer I can still see snow topped plains with tons of kites flying like I have seen in the past. Dontet a good thing go. Lets fill this void.

The only problem with events is the wind never blows. We should have an informal gathering with a two or three week period where we check the weather and go. When we plan to go kiting we look at the weather an go where it's going to be windy. Between Fairfield and craters of the moon there is a pretty good shot at wind most days. Jmo

Is the Montana Snowkite Rodeo still on for President's Day Weekend like it has been for the past few years?

From what I hear, the 10th Montana Snowkite Rodeo will be held over the Presidents Day Weekend in February based out of the Jackson Hot Springs, Jackson, MT - in the heart of the Big Hole Valley.

It wouldn't do to compete with another event. On another forum somebody mentioned March 1,2,3. What do people think about that weekend?
