Got bit today right before my session this morning, didn't even see it happen (sneak attack)!

NOT trying to start another endless leash/dog thread, but it friggin hurts and it is a pain checking vaccines even when the owners are cool about it. Really appreciate dogs on leash at the Event Site until the summer crowds slow down!

Thanks

It was a German Short Hair, not a stray, but a rescue dog that has had a pretty tough life until somebody was nice enough to give it a good home. I don't think it will happen again with this particular dog, owner super cool about it, but it happens and it hurts... Embarassed

IF your dog is in any way at risk for agression like this, should be leashed, period.

My dog is nbow too old to do anything and has never exhibited hostility towards another living thing, so I tend not to worry. But if there was the slightest chance he would nip, snap, or exhibit aggression of ANY kind, I would be much more careful.

Owner should know this...

If this is the same "rescue dog" that was attacking people at the Marina earlier in the year? Both the dog AND the owners should be put on a leash.

Speaking of dog aggression...

Sand spit: white pit bull: you know the one i'm talking about - think it's a pro's dog. Seen it full-on go postal agressive on at least two separate occasions when friendly but unfamiliar dogs were on scene...and they wer on leash.

Not sure who owns that dog but appears as if the owners have no grasp of the situation or the responsibility to handle it correctly.

Ask any owner and they'll say their dog isn't aggressive... until it happens. I believe there are signs all over the event site stating your dog needs to be on a leash, period. Regardless of the location, its inconsiderate to bring your dog to the launch and then go take off kiting. Leave the dog at home or stay with him on a leash. It's what I do with my dog.

coulda been alot worse, like the french canadian guy that got his nose nearly bit off. the dog was tied up, but un-monitered.

My Rottie is more likely to lick your nose, but I never put her in a situation that could result in harm to her or anyone else. And no one is brave enough to violate her sanctuary, (my van) so my gear stays safe.

Dangle on!

I was bit by a rotwieler while jogging on a single track trail because the girl walking it was not strong enough to hold it back with the leash, drew blood, real close to calling the cops but I didnt want to see the dog put down.

Two days ago I am walking my 14 year old blue healer at a park on lake Merwin. We are walking along the swimming area, lots of people and picnic tables, and a tiger striped pit bull comes charging out from under a picnic table rams into my dog and trys to bite it. The pit bull his hooked to a really long cable, at least 10' of slack for the dog to move around. I step between the pit bull and my dog while the owner, a morbidly obese dude, trys to get his fat ass off the grass, took at least 15 seconds. He doesnt say anything to his dog till he finally gets off the ground. The dogs walks back under the picnic table, and then charges out and rams into the back end of my dog. I didnt say a word, I just gave him the look that said you better control your dog before I do it with prejudice. Dude finally grabs his dog, and I walk away with my dog only to hear dudes skank say, "what are they doing walking by our picnic table anyways". No apology at all just that ignorant assed statement. Mind you we are in a public park in the public swimming area, so I reported them to the authorities. Hate to think what would have happend if somebody had brought one of those tiny carry in your purse dogs to the swimming area.

A handgun makes a great training tool for those kinds of dogs. I am sick and tired of aggressive dogs and dog shit. I watched some DB pretend to not see his enormous dog take an enormous wet dump right in the rigging area the other day.

paints a pretty picture. sounds like 2 people, a dog, and a picnic table meant for each other.

I have 0 tolerance for aggressive dogs especially when kids are in the area. I won't hesitate to kick it in the neck til its real quiet like. If my dog bit someone unprovoked I would beat the hell out of it then put it down. Hope you do the same.

If anyone tried to piss on me, walk on my kite on the sand or try to bite me I would kick them at minimum plus a lot more. If you have a dog that does the same be
Prepared to get the same plus some My wife has been but by a dog with no vaccination records and the owner and the dog would have been better off to have only been kicked and Unfortuneately she is worried about any dog off a leash)!! We have dogs and they are controlled.
Be glad it's almost sep and it took this long for this to pop back up. Busy days are over in a week or so:-)!!

Slingshot is better than Naish

Loose dogs at the event site suck

Kooks that remain kooks year after year at the event site are even worse

Boots are better than straps
