Thank you! Please spread the word through FB and Twitter too if you're super into it. The more support we can show the better, as there's a seriously misinformed group that is doing everything they can to derail the project through every avenue possible. One of their arguments is that the public doesn't want to have a cable park. If that's not the case, we need the evidence to show otherwise...

I signed when the post appeared... Beavertown is on your side... not to mention it would be a great way to learn the slider park prior to trying it with a kite and showin your KOOK.

Cable parks, wake style tricks and boots are only for elitist snobs who won't spend any money in the area. I think the area needs a more family friendly attraction. I hope they fill the basin with toxic sludge and then put build a Disney hotel there and then a new shopping mall out over the sandbar complete with a Cinnabon and a PF Changs.

If the cable park goes in can we still paddle that site?
How much will it limit access to the surrounding area?
What demographic will actually use the cable park?
Just asking questions,
Thanks

The cable park will extend to the area just before what used to be used as the boat launch as far as I know. The surrounding areas will still be able to be paddled in, and the cable park will have no effect on access in the surrounding areas. You could also cable while the park is not in operation anywhere as far as I know. The demographic that will use the cable will range from families wanting to have a good time and maybe rent it out for their kids birthday parties, to serious wakeboarders and kiteboarders looking to progress in a much more controlled environment.

http://hoodrivercablepark.com/ has a lot of answers to these questions.

There is a diagram and site plan published there:
http://hoodrivercablepark.com/see-a-site-plan/

The cable park will use up 9 acres of the 15 of the boat basin, 60%. This leaves 5-6 acres of the north end for paddling.

The surrounding access areas will be improved and landscaped.

there will still be room to paddle. the basin will be cleaned up.

it will give you something fun to do, maybe if your nice to the operator he will pull you while you sit in your kayak.

why the hate? what are the negatives?

Done!

Please also share this petition link on your facebook pages.
The facebook pages for this group should be pretty solid with linking up like minded athlete friends with backgrounds in waterskiing, wakeboarding, alpine skiing, snowboarding, kiteboarding, windsurfing, surfing, etc.......

All of these types of recreationally like minded people, local and tourists, can all benefit from this very cost effective and easy to approach recreational opportunity.

This would create the most economically affordable and environmentally friendly watersport along the waterfront, 2nd only to swimming.
This would be way cheaper to do than kiteboarding, Windsurfing, SUPing and Kayaking, plus it would generate way more interest from other sports participants that might not have any interest in the above listed sports.
Imagine skiers and snowboarders coming down from Mt Hood to the cablepark, and not to mention less fuel pollution from boats on the river due to the cablepark.

I could go on and on for days about how much more approachable this concept is due to the environmental and economic benefits.

But, all we need for you to do now is to sign the petition so show your support and share the link with your friends and relatives who are of a like minded value set.
