How much does 3cm in a TT matter? My wife says every cm matters but that is for a totally different thread. I am trying to decide between a 133cm or 136cm TT (Cabrinha Calibur, Custom or Naish Money Shot). I am 5'8" and weigh about 150lb and kite in the Gorge. Please don't tell me to get a directional because I already have one (Cabrinha S-Quad).

Quite a bit. The increased length generally makes the board wider and allows for a different rocker shape and creates a different outline profile, different flex points and creates more surface area. There are lots of factors to board shape, length is just one of them. The board's characteristics is a balance of all of the design factors (length, width, thickness, rocker, profile, flex etc.)

A 138 board from X is not necessarily comparable to a 138 board from Y, etc.

Find a good salesman who understands boards and who can tell you why board Y is different than board X.

The most important thing to know is what you want the board to do. If you can communicate that to the salesman, he/she will have a better idea of where to steer you.

When in doubt, demo the board.

Lots of good local shops.

Yo Steve! I'm 5'9" / 170 lbs. - I have the 133cm 2011 Caliber and it's perfect! For your size, I would go no bigger. I love the board and the size (133 x 41) is perfect for me. I have experienced absolutely no face spray or nose-dives. Planes quick and very maneuverable.

Try to demo if you're not sure but for me it's a done deal! Good luck! Rob

Unbob, have you ridden the Custom? I have demoed both the Calibur and Money Shot and liked them both. The Calibur was really nice/smooth in the waves up that the WS bridge but the Money Shot holds a nice edge and the foot straps/binding rocked. No one cares a Custom for me to demo:( So if you or anyone has experience with both the Calibur and Custom I would love to hear about them. I am pretty much looking for a nice jumping board.

Just make sure you're really happy with the stance width on the Money Shot before you pull the trigger on it. I'd ask TJ about recommended stance width & adjustment on that board.

No, I've never ridden the Custom. But when examining it in the shop, it seemed way too soft and "noodle-y" for my taste. But hey, try a demo and check it out for yourself.

In any case, I'm very impressed with the Cabrinha build quality vs some competitor boards. And it's a sweet ride!

in my opinion you should consider more than just length x width dimensions. These boards (probably) have differing degrees of rocker/flex/tip to tail taper: custom/moneyshot vs calibur , for example, these would make a bigger difference in terms of planing up than length x width product.

I think we are blessed here with a charging upwind current that gives us a lot more leeway on riding smaller boards for our weight - It makes it really advantageous for learning stuff.

I'd just ride them if possible or discuss what type of riding you intend to do and i'm sure someone knowledgable will nudge you in the right direction.

The stance choices on the Caliber are 24"(61 CM) / 26"(66CM) / 28"(71CM).

Factor in length and width (and also rocker) and weigh it against the kites you'll fly it with. If you tend to be in lighter winds trend toward the larger, flatter planform. I'm 175 lbs ride a 132cm with a bit of rocker, just went to 135cm because the 132cm wasn't making me happy on 12m days. Love it when I'm lit on a 9m!
